"Smart" Hotliner Electric really $100 dollars off?

Hobby Lobby has the $100 dollars off ads for the Hotliner Electric. Is this just a gimmick ploy that they use or the regular price really $279?

What I mean is: an item has an MSRP of $299 and the store sells it at their everyday price of $249. Then one day they said that they have the item on sale for $199 with $100 saving! Well it is not a $100 saving, but $50 since the store never sell it at $299 originally. This is an example of a marketing ploy to lure in more buyer because the buyer thought they are really getting a good deal, in reality they aren't. So my question is the Hotliner plane really selling for $279 on Lobby Hobby recently or was it like $219 recently and has just been mark down to $179? Also is this plane worth $179?

having dealt with them I would think the discount genuine, not a clever ruse... however, often a sale such as this heralds a new, improved product... i.e., this may constitute a "closeout"

Thats ok, for cheapskates/poor people like me, we reap the benefits of flying last years model for a lot cheaper. As opposed to buying the brand new version which isn't going to be that much different. If you're just sport flying, or sport competing it works just fine. Heck its better than my Bonito Hotliner. I might just buy one.

The model is worth every penny of the $279 they sell it for regularly. I got mine at a discount as the wing was severely damaged (but I'm not afraid of repairing composite models). I paid more than this current sale price however. I would almost be tempted to buy another for that price! (except I have way too many go-fast models right now)..

We normally sell the SMART for $279. We just have too many on the shelf and need to make room for some of the NEW goodies in Catalog 38.

Enjoy our goof-up, reap the rewards and save yourself some ca$h

I have to agree with Andy here. At that price, I almost want to buy another one just to have around! The Smart is definately worth every penny here, and more. It's my favorite flyer to date! Power it with a ten cell CP1700 pack and the hottest brushless motor you can afford. Mission Control, we have liftoff!
