SH44, I must admit, how can you determine if the product is inferior?

I have seen a Mystique fly, and it flies fine. It will be a heck of a step forward for anyone wanting to move on up and learn more about soaring and possibly ALES. The airfoil is a good all around section that can utilize camber changing very well and that can fly in the wind too.

It could lighter maybe, and I guess guys will make all kind of changes, like we all do with ARF's but it will be a fine vehicle for the advanced noobie to go on with. Pete Goldsmith knows his stuff and I believe it will work just fine.

Multiplex didn't want to support an RTF type product. The RTF nature of the Radian, PLUS its excellent glide character, is what made it such a big hit. Heck, I have the RTF and I have two computer radios.

Hitec showed an RTF version of the Easy Glider a tthe WRAM show in February.

The Easy Star is being discountinued and the Hitec Sky Scout has replaced it. It is based on teh Easy Start with Hitec electronics and brushless motor. Ailerons optional.

Good points. Bringing out an RTF only now is a tad behind the curve ...

I understand Hitec will be producing these in Asia to reduce the price to compete in North American market.

So, the Mystique will hopefully the raging success it should be as a step up glider for the foamy guys. And this should become a stepping stone to business for Esprit and other higher end traditional glider providers.

Because it's a very open question, about a very overused term and misunderstood subject.

The Mystique, like any other aircraft, will stall if flown too slowly or the critical AoA is exceeded. The moderate taper with washout provides appropriate stall progression for this type of model. Occasionally, depending on aircraft attitude and control surface input, you may stall one wing before the other. You will not experience random 'tip stalls' while casually flying.

I just got back from the LHS and opened a Mystique box. Wow is it nice! The quality is top notch. The transparent wings show awesome ribs and caps with perfect covering. The fiberglass fuse was nice. Hardware was also very good with metal clevis and point hinges. Control surfaces on the wings were perfectly hinged. I could not find a defect.

So if it flies as good as it looks, we are in for a treat!

First one with a pilot report wins a prize!

A quick check of the manual reveals...

Use a ruler to adjust the throw of the elevator, ailerons and rudder.

Aileron:
Up: 20mm
Down: 12mm

Elevator:
Up: 23mm
Down: 20mm

Rudder:
Right: 50mm
Left: 50mm

Flaps:
Landing: 25 degrees

Camber Settings:
Speed: 1mm up both ailerons and flaps
Cruise: 1mm down both ailerons and flaps
Thermal: 3.5mm down both ailerons and flaps

I'm guessing that this is possibly not what you meant though...

What kind of problem are you having? Those don't seem to be extreme numbers for surface movement.

It is not possible to get 23mm up elevator because the carbon rod hits the top of the cutout. I get about 18mm up/down.

Also, cannot get 20mm of up aileron because the horn is too short and the clevis hits the wing. I'm thinking about cutting a notch to allow for more movement.

Jeff, I just checked my Mystique and the available throw on the elevator should be able to be achieved. I can get a total of 27mm up on mine from the Neutral position, I’m a little confused on that. It’s not super critical, 18mm will be fine if you can’t get 23mm, you rarely use full travel when flying anyway, might mean slightly larger loops, .
Also Aileron throw is measured from the inboard position not the tip, that may be why you can't get the desired throw. Again, the throws are a starting point, most will adjust to suit their own personal feel.
Again, my apologies if there is any ambiguity in the manual.

From the photo below, you can see how close the aileron clevis is to the wing in the neutral position.

However, I did have to slightly bend the pushrod to get it connected to the servo and fed thru the opening. I may have bent it too much.

Also, Can you or anyone confirm the CG position? The manual states 120mm, which is almost 50% of cord.
