Need some help with first fan replacement

Ok, I am trying to do my first fan upgrade and need a little help....I have a J-Power 50mm F-86 Sabre which is my first EDF (I have many electric prop airplanes). A couple of weeks ago the fan blades shredded during take off so I ordered a new one from Hobbyking that someone had pointed to as a nice upgrade....http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=21966

Well, I got it in but I do have a couple of questions about it.

1. The lip of the shroud is much bigger on the new one. Not exactly sure how to make it fit.

2. I noticed that the lip is on the opposite side than the stock shroud.

As it stands, I might be able to cut into the foam on the plane, opposite to where the original shroud lip was located. Is that how I should try to install it?
I have enclosed one pic of the plane and fans....

Thanks from a first timer!

Yes.

Don't be afraid to do a little carving of the foam where the fan inlet lip will contact the fuse. Go slow, use your X-Acto and sandpaper to notch out the foam; do it equally on both the main fuse and the access hatch. If you work slow and careful, you will hurt nothing and the fan will fit up snug and right.

Also - that flared inlet lip is on the inlet side - do NOT put it toward the outlet side!! This means you do the aforementioned cutting and sanding, in the duct, at the forward side of the duct.

This isn't anything new - happens all the time. No fears - it will work better than you think!

Thanks, Pikestaff. I thought it might need some cutting and sanding to get it installed in the right orientation. I will proceed slowly and try to keep things snug and not loose.....

The original housing had some glue on it when it was installed. Should I apply and CA or hot glue when I get the fuse cutout done?

You can - but it won't be necessary if the final fit is good. If it's a little loose, use some silicone caulk; a couple blobs on the fuse side will secure it well, yet be removeable when you decide you want it to be.

If you would rather use hot glue, feel free - it will secure it very well, but will be more difficult to remove the fan later if you need it. CA is not worth the effort, and will likely melt some foam because of the amount necessary, and will make later removal impossible.
