Well, Ebay informed me today that I won myself a used and bashed up AS3X Beast 3D so I suppose I've joined the insanity. Should be able to get it back to pretty condition for all told around $85. Not bad!

Shoot...I'd have just taken the guts and built something else.

Fuse looks fine, guts are claimed to be fully functional. Just needs wings and wing struts, $17 at lhs. I've wanted a beast for a long time now so scoring one for $60 off seems good to me!

The temp was in the 40's both days. I have opened up the front for airflow, but I have not put heat sinks on the FET's. Is their a link to a "how to" for that?
I should have tried to fly it on 2S just to see if it made a difference.....Tx....JJ

Why stress it. Mine will hover on a 2 cell 250. Was flying it yesterday with the temp at 16 F with no problems.

PM me your snail mail and I'll send you a couple of heatsinks with thermal tape backing. It's easy, though you have to cut the tape to get the canopy off.

Wow... OMG... Over 16000 Posts...

I bought a beast 3D a few days ago and read the whole "Official Eflite UMX Beast 3D" thread in this forum.
But this one here is much too big.

After reading the other thread, i plan to use a 3S setup with the stock 2500KV, 5030 and 3S180.

Important questions:
Is it still true, that no one reported a toasted brick?

And is it true, that the problems with OTP can be solved with heatsinks and thermal adhesive?
Or are there cases of OTP reported even though heatsinks were used?

If someone toasted a brick I do not think they posted it here.

But many (like me) tried 3S and found it quickly hit OCP or other issue that interrupted flight, and so without further work, found 3S did not work for our planes.

So does this mean WITH further work like heatsinks and ventholes it's possible?

If not, would an esc like the XP-12A be an alternative?
And where on the board is the solder point to get a clear signal?

Did the problems with OTC and OCP happen to everyone after some time?
Or are there at least a few flying 3S for a longer time without problems, so it's worth a try?
