Most of the ads in question have nothing to do with questionable searches.....they are for t-shirt companies or video gaming sites.

I'm not seeing the offensive t shirt ad. Does anyone have a link to the site for reference?

I believe it is roadkilltshirts.com

As for the other, I do not know what the web address is but it appears to be for some kind of online game judging by the graphics used for the ad. It says something about "dress-up game for grown-ups."

I definitely have never seen that second one, but we can block certain ads from showing up.

I see it all over this site as well as Pro Bro. And, trust me, I am not searching for such things.

I have requested the RoadKill ad be removed from our adsense listings.

I also wanted you to know that there is a button on every adsense ad that will allow you to "mute" any future ads you find offensive. I have attached an image showing the location of the mute button. I hope that helps.

Great, thanks for the tip, Jim!

While I'm not trying to pick on anyone - as what is considered 'offensive' varies from person to person - I think he's talking about those Snorgtees t-shirt ads. They aren't necessarily scantily-clad women but the models wearing the t-shirts are usually.... how to say this politely.... enhanced and since the t-shirts are inevitably skin-tight, you can't help but to see her.... assets. Granted, the girls are fully-clothed (at least in the ads I've seen), but you certainly can't miss the point they are trying to get across.

Another t-shirt company will have ads with t-shirts that have logos like "I pooped today!" or "I'm fine" but the -tshirt shows a huge blood spot on the side, as if a shark or zombie or something took a bite. It certainly doesn't bother me but again, what offends is different for everybody.

Like Jim T. said, most web sites don't have control over the types of ads that are placed in a space. The sites sell add space, and the companies that buy that space will put several rotating ads in there. Obviously you deal with reputable ad companies so you don't get something highly offensive. But it's not like Jim T. or Jim Bourke specifically pick which ads show up on the site.

Anyway, I'm saying this because bringing it to everyone's attention is the way to get something done about it. Kudus to Jim T. several years ago for listening to my concerns over the scantily-clad women in the updates on the sidebar from RCCars.com. I like a scantily-clad woman just like the next guy, but I worked for a stuffy bank at the time and those pictures raised more than a few eyebrows. I didn't want the site blocked so I said something. You probably don't remember Jim... I thanked you back then and I'm thanking you again!

That is actually not entirely true. Sites do have some control over which ads are showing. For example, sites can exclude ads from their site based on:
- General categories
- Sensitive categories
- Block specific advertiser URL
- Block specific ads or advertisers.

Now, it will be almost impossible for a site to capture in advance "desirable" ads given they are targeted. So I think it simply means we as a community need to keep doing what we are doing through requests such as the OP has made. That is, in much the same way a member may report spam, a request can be made to review a particular ad/advertiser.

And, the best place to report such ad/advertiser, would be by opening a thread in SS/C.

Not really, Porchia, it's 100% true that a large number of the ads that show up are based on what you've been looking at online. I was watching a show about medical marijuana and they were talking about how a lot of people are using vaporizors to make the smoke less harmful to patients. I did a google search because I was curious about the technology and, not long after, I had ads for all types of marijuana products popping up on websites. The worst part about it was that it also followed my account to my work PC. I had to go into Google ad settings to get those ads to stop showing up on sites like this, facebook, and others. It's the nature of Google ads.

Wait wait...were you searching for that information for a "friend"?

I'm aware of how the ads work, as are I think most folks that surf the web. My comment wasn't about the cookies, or ad sense, or algorithms etc etc. I saw the ads over the past few weeks and wasn't personally offended by them, but could see how some might be. Although not directed specifically at the OP, the comment I felt was unfair appeared to take a poke at him, and I thought it was pretty evident. Might be wrong, who knows.

I am glad to see mods responding to members concerns though.

Yes, you might be wrong. I know.

I pointed out the reality of the ads. You tried to act offended about it.
