Ah, thanks Ya know Ryan is doing the right thing, growing his obsession. It's also much easier to give your kid a slower crawler than an rc plane as well. John, I think you should find your local crawler club and go see what they get up to. Vancouver has such great spots for it too and guess what? You'll always have something to do on a windy day

Ryan,

Where do you plan to go? I think that should factor in to what you buy. That TH looks really cool but it does not have the clearance to go out on a good rock crawler course. Is there somewhere you could go to try the two on bigger rocks?

NO, NO, a thousand times NO! I have girded my loins in defense to fight off the evil, vile temptation of crawling in the mud! My ever faithful avenger of the air, TRex 550 FBL is being outfitted as we speak with a full NAZA H/GPS system complete with NAZA BEC. It like my FW450 quad, will be able to hold automatically on point while I busy myself taking videos from high above of you and Ryan crawling around in the mud and muck! I will have LED's blazing on both aircraft to serve as a guiding beacon to the two you. The LED's will gently guide you back into the clean, pristine air far above the rocks, gravel, muck and debris that litters the ground. We pilots enjoy coffee, fresh fruit and sometimes breakfast at iHOP since we can just walk into the place after our flights as opposed to having to be hosed off first. On windy, rainy, cold or snowy days I can fly my humble but loyal, MQX indoors where it is comfortable while listening to my stereo.

Just for the record, there is a mud pit the guys race in that is about 300 feet from where we fly at. They seem to have an affinity for large boulders and logs.

Oh yeah, the undersides are totally different, that's a big thing that separates the TH from just being a straight up crawler. So where are you going to be running?

Trail, and rocks ect

Anywhere I can I guess

This is what I was told about clearance

Thanks

]Center ground clearance is higher on a SCX10.
Rear axle ground clearance should be similar on both.
Front "Axle" clearance is higher on the Twin Hammers

You mean like driving on the edge of the human waste lagoon where you almost lost that heli a couple of years back?

No problems with rocks up your way, bet there are a ton of natural rock obstacles in your area, would be great fun.

Yes durk

Shat lagoons lol

We have tons of rock here on the Canadian shield for sure

I am at a loss for choosing

TH is a damn good deal

Dx3 which is a great radio
Lipo
Charger
2 speed transmission

If I bought the axial I would need lipo and I want a spectrum TX to use with my trekker.

Don't have a ton of coin to spend so want to get most bang for my buck.

I'd like to have both lol

With a baby on the way, that coin is rapidly getting less and less. Yes, I remember the Great Settling Lagoon Incident. Ryan, you are truly the stuff that legends are made of.

Right now, the only thing "new" is the Naza H setup that is in the final tinkering stages. Hope to have the maiden next week. No new toys on the immediate Horizon. I did run across this Tx unit that has a built-in FPV screen. Now this one is a true "El Cheapo" four channel unit. I would not buy it. When I was at CES in January, I saw some "real" units that were seven channels and above. Still, it is interesting to see this technology starting to show up on our shores.

So far, even Spektrum has not incorporated FPV into thier Tx units. Even their super whiz-bang, mega-mombo deluxe DX 18QQ (priced at a paltry $1200.00USD) does not include this feature. I find this odd since this is becoming almost standard equipment in Asian countries. I suspect there may be issues with video frequencies, range and interference in North America.
