Question
1.5V LITHIUM AAs cells?!

Got a little question for y'all. The AA cells that came with our Apple wireless mouse have got:

Energizer e^2 (e-squared)
LITHIUM TECHNOLOGY

AA 1.5v PILE LITHIUM BATTERY L91

on the side. I didn't know you could get 1.5v Lithium cells, let alone in AA size!

Anyone seen anything familiar? They do seem to have great battery life though! We bought the wireless mouse (and a wireless keyboard and a new iMac) exactly a month ago today, and the battery voltage readout on the computer is still 5/5 for the mouse and 4/5 for the keyboard!! Impressive!

it could be a real mini li+ cell say 10 - 20 mah, regulated down to 1.5v , ive seen esquared lithium around for a while, and did tend to ponder about how they did it, but really, this kind of question aint new, my mum baught a anti - dog barking collar for one of our dogs, ( a non zap one) and its powered off what looks to be a 2/3A 6v bettery, or cell...

Hmm, I would expect the capacity is a lot more than that - probably up in the 1Ah region perhaps (comparing it to other alkaline AA cells available ...) I dunno though ....

Here's a picture. I've certainly never seen them advertised for sale before - in fact, this is the first time I've seen them!

These 1.5V primary Li cells have been available in the battery sections of stores like WalMart for quite some time now. They are quite different from the chargeable Li-ion and Li-poly cells. They're pretty pricey compared to alkaline primary AAs, but can be useful for certain applications.
