Turnigy 4500 LiFePo4 Packs

Any new user info, on the new Turnigy packs?

I have purchased a couple, but haven't had the time, or weather, to do any flight testing.

I have done a little checking, and the 4500 3S is only about an ounce lighter than my M1 3S2P packs. Thus far, the only advantages I see are lower cost, and better mounting options (the 4500 will fit in a MUCH smaller hole!).

Thanks, for the response, EDF.
I have read the threads you mentioned, previously, but I didn't find anything on pack performance. Most everything was about sales techniques (poking and stomping packs) and whether the packs were round cell, or not. Thought I'd throw out another quest, for real-world performance.

I ordered 2 x 6S and 2 x 3S LiFePo4 packs which came last week for a non-modelling use. I checked ESR on arrival and at 20deg cent cells were pretty consistently 3 milliohms. Ran a 1C charge/discharge cycle on each between 3.70V charged and 2.50V discharged and the capacity on a 6S was 4450mAh, but the two 2S packs were only 3273mAh (73%) and 3775mAh (84%) after 3 cycles. I was intending to do discharge runs at 15/20C but have returned them under warranty so results will have to wait.
I will post results when I have replacements.

Nice info Wayne. looking forward to your new findings. I've had very satisfying result from Turnigy LiPos but not sure about their LiFe cells.

Thanks, Walt!

From the looks of things, I may be better off sticking to my M1 cells, for flight packs.

Ah, but those of us with faith (or is that Hope) want to believe that someone would be able to come up with cells costing half as much that are just as good.
Oh well, maybe someday

B & D 1100 ma VPX

I called a nearby B & D repair center in the Phila. PA. area to save on shipping charges. The 3rd dealer offered free shipping. It helped.

A local AUTHORIZED ...B&D REPAIR CENTER should do the same for you. Mention I got free shipping. Hell. The cells are written off as scrap by now. Shop around at B & D REPAIR CENTERS only.

Bad news...........2 of the 3 packs are rejects...........will not fully charge on my chargers.
Will be calling B & D Monday. At $20 a pack I want great cells. Should be fully charged in 2 or 3 hours at most.

They were shipped from B & D in Fort Mill, South Carolina 1 800 235 2000

Batteries are OK !!!!!!!!!!!

These 3 must have sat on the shelf a while. It took a 2nd recharge to fill them up.

B & D has a shutoff timer built into them. I left 1 on overnight. still not charged. Pull it out wated 30 seconds. Put everything back on and both batteries finished in about 1/2 hour each. I am happy. ") As I only use 2 cells in all the smaller planes . 3 cells in the RC transmitters.

Love these open forums. ")
