I am new to this. What is a good new motor? I have too many ni-mi batteries to switch to lipo. What is a good set-up to get more speed. motor and esc. Thanks

The stock esc is rated for 40A so you are going to be limited is your selection if you stick with the stock esc.

You also DO NOT need to swap to LIPO to run with brushless motors so if you are planning on changing any of the components then why not look at a brushless system.

that motor looks like a sensored brushless motor to me, just upgrade the esc for a 60a esc

The stock motor is a brushed 550 size motor, if you are talking about my motor its the 3500kv Traxxas Velineon motor with the Trassax VXL-3 ESC and both are waterproof which makes it ideal for me running it in my boat.

The O.P is asking for good replacement motor or esc to get more speed and still use his bunch of NiMh packs.

are you running into ant heat problems?

Do you mean sensorless? I don't see a sensor pigtail going to the ESC from the motor.

The Traxxas VXL-3 is a all Purpose ESC. It a brushless ESC that can do BRUSHED motors. It can of course do brushless but it will also do both kinds of brushless, SENSORED and SENSORLESS. FWD/BRK/REV or FWD/BRK only.

I hate it when i get ant heat problems.............darn little buggers..........

Regardless of what the ESC can handle, that's still not a sensored motor.

That esc is a marvel though, being able to handle brushed and brushless, sensored and sensorless is awesome, plus it can handle a pile of current (200a continuous, 320a spike).

Do not recall anyone saying it WAS but yes this is a SENSORLESS MOTOR 3500kv
