MultiWii v2.5

I wanted to start a dialog about the MW v2.5 since it's so new. Please start sharing your pictures of wiring and also how you got components to work

FTDI USB-TTL

This is a basic breakout board for the FTDI FT232RL USB to serial IC. The pinout of this board matches the FTDI cable to work with official Arduino and cloned 5V Arduino boards. It can also be used for general serial applications. The major difference with this board is that it brings out the DTR pin as opposed to the RTS pin of the FTDI cable. The DTR pin allows an Arduino target to auto-reset when a new Sketch is downloaded. This is a really nice feature to have and allows a sketch to be downloaded without having to hit the reset button. This board will auto reset any Arduino board that has the reset pin brought out to a 6-pin connector.

Help

I've got one of these guys that I cant seem to get working. I've set up other multiwii boards in the past with no problems. This guy however, the senors dont seem to be working. I upload the firmware ( have tried all versions ) and when I look at the live data, there is either no data being read from the sensors or its confused and reading all sorts of rubbish. Anyone have any luck with this board? what did you define for it in the code?

HI guys,
I have this set up and have loaded version 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 and they have all worked after a bit of playing!
currently using multiwii 2.1 SE 2.0 cant even remember where I had it from!
its a smaller file than recent versions because I kept running out of room. its configured for hex6x with gps, gimbal and screen. I have also tried quad x.
i can provide the config.h files if you want
only thing is to init the screen its pitch up and throttle down and yaw left.

Hello kenpapas is it possible to connect all at the same time ?
  • I2C-GPS NAV Module
  • CN -06 GPS receiver
  • CO-16 OLED Display Module
  • Bluetooth module
Is there a possibility to use a separate BEC not from the ESC ?
Can you put up a link to MWC Combo Manual ?
Bent u het bouwen van een multi rotor met deze opstelling ?

I have the board but want to get the GPS board to set up return to home and possible way-points etc. Seams like a cheep alternative to Naza V2 if it was simple to use with little tweaking. I do know I couldn't get my pc on 8.1 to see the FTDI USB interface. I read the board will not work because there isn't 8.1 drivers so I loaded multiwii software on my window 7 machine and it all works. GPS and Bluetooth is another story all together.. Any experts out there???

If you are using the I2C you should disconnect the Bluetooth and vis versa.. Everything else you can leave connected.

Could you please provide the config.h file for the 2.3 version?

Hi Guys,
I'm new to multirotor & just received my X525 kit with Multiwii SE V2.5 controller (clone of Crius).
I downloaded PC Config V2.3 and can see live data from controller. Configurator shows board running V2.2.
My question is how do you change the values shown in green boxes (PID etc)? If I click on one of these values I cannot change it. I can calibrate the ACC & Mag sensors though.
Do I need to be running same version of PC config as board is running i.e. V2.2?

Another query re battery monitoring. I see that battery monitoring can be set in Configurator. Which input would I use on board to achieve this? I'm assuming a voltage divider would be required on analog input as 328 has 5V limit.

Cheers..B

Ok I worked out how to do battery monitoring by reading V2.3 sketch.
A3 is the voltage monitoring input . On my Crius SE v2.3 clone there are no pins for A3 but there is a pad marked A3 next to A2.
I connected a wire from this pad and ran to power distribution board. Here you solder a 33K resistor to negative & other end solder to 51K. The other end of 51K goes to positive on dist board. at the junction of these resistors connect to wire going to A3. Run some heatshrink over join and resistors to prevent any shorts.
Now go into sketch & uncomment #define VBAT as well as #define BUZZER.
When you run GUI you will now see live battery voltage displayed so you will have no excuse running your battery too low!

I haven't tried it yet but low voltage alarms are active by default. Try connecting a 5V piezo buzzer to D8 & try it. You can also flash a led on low voltage alarm but will require a 220ohm resistor to limit current.

I'm learning lots just by getting into the Arduino MWC2.3 sketch code. There is tons of stuff you can do just by reading comments & uncommenting some code or even adding your own code.

Cheers...B
