Durafly 1100mm Spitfire MkVb Owners Thread

Stuart was kind enough to let me have a sample of the new Durafly MkVb Spitfire.

And So I guess I'm one of the first owners so here is a new thread for her.

It's based on the Mk1a airframe, as were the real MkV's so in that respect its very scale That being said all the specs are known and the Mk1 is wonderful flyer and the MkV fly's just as good as the Mk1 my version has the Volks filter fitted, and this didn't seem to have any effect of flight performance at all.
I have already weathered mine
the version I have made is "Screwball"Beurling's Malta Spitfire "TL"

how could I not.

I did a few little mods to the stock plane I opened up the the intake in the Volks filter so it can still feed air to the air intake hidden underneath I also used a gunsight from a ...Er...Crashed P40N and printed a dash board from a real spitfire. I also moved the pilot forward a little and painted him to look a little more realistic.

Sadly for me there are no pictures of EP706 so I had to use my imagination as to how it might have looked. What is known is that the spitfires on Malta had a very hard life and were kept in the air with spit and string.
So I went for very heavy weathering on the leading edges.

Looks great Mark.

The 4 protos Stuart sent the HK NY office to fly for stills and vids are pretty well beat up now and unfortunately during filming we lost MD-T. Fortunately the filming was nearly complete. we relegate it to parts. I kept WD-Q and AE-A for my own stable. I have so much flight time now on both the older Mk1a and the Mk5's that it almost seems like I haven't flown anything else! (but of course I have)

one can never have too many spitfires...I think the most at one time ive had is 7....but i guess my 3rd scale at 148" span makes up for the lack of the tidderlers. .
