Yes that's correct. although you might have to reverse the curve by clicking on where it says "gear" changing it to "!gear". I like it reversed so that hh mode (positive value) is when the switch is up, not down.

It's not controlling the tail servo, its simply using the gear switch to change the value from negative(rate mode) to positive(hh mode)

how i set mine is the on the mixer page select ch that the gyro is on..mine was 7
complex mixer
page 1 ...switch= mix0 (or gear if you want)
Src=ch5
curve=Fixed
Scale=90
Mux=replace

page 2
switch=mix1
Src=ch5
curve=fixed
scale=80
mux=replace

page 3
Switch=mix2
Src=ch5
Curve=fixed
scale= -95
mux=replace

with it set this way i have 3 selectable gyro values...1 is 90% , 2 is lower at 80% and 3 is set to a negative value to set the gyro in rate mode

just a example on how i did it..

OK. Reversing the GEAR switch makes it just right.

Now Scale sets my HH mode, but how do I set the rate mode?
Offset just moves the Min/Max curve up, and down.

My next project is to set up my 2702V Rx in the Devo 6.
All the settings for that RX/Gyro are done in the TX. Will the 6CH template be able to handle that?

rate mode is usually oppisite of the HH mode...on mine anything above 0 is HH mode with higher number making the gyro more sensitive...from 0 to -100 is rate mode with a higher -number making the gyro more sensitive...the rx is the one out of the 4f200 i think it has the built in 3 axis gyros...pretty sure its the 2618v like the one you are using...you can tell when its in rate mode cause the led on the rx blinks and in HH mode its steady..

In my 2801 TX I set HH to 80, and rate mode to 20, and switch between the 2 with the gear switch.

This is a bit different because deviation uses a -100 to +100 scale instead of a 0 to 100 scale like stock tx. So setting scale to +/- 60 is the same as 20 and 80 in old firmware.

I'll try that because 20, and 80 is not working.
It seems to be locked into Rate mode.
Gear is being used as the TH switch. Maybe that's what is messing it up.
Also I'm simulating a 2801 TX, but I only selected 6 Channels. Should I select 8 channels?

From what i've read, you can set 8 channels on a devo 6 and it will work. But if you do you will have to move the gyro channel to ch 7. Don't take me at my word on this though... I do not own a devo 6, only a devo 8s. So for me gyro is always on ch 7. And I use rudd dr for my TH.

This is probably a bug in Deviation actually.
While I display the number of channels as '6', I'm actually usingthe 8-ch protocol (deviation uses either 4, 8, or 12ch protocols). When I decided to do that, I didn't know that Walkera changed the mapping based on how many channels were available.
So I should actually send the number of channels chosen rather than snapping to the nearest 4. It would prevent a lot of confusion I guess.

I switched to 8 CH, and used CH 7 for the gyro, and now it works.
Thanks all for your help.

My next project is to use the 2801 protocol on a 2702 RX/Gyro.
The swash mixing is done in the TX on this one as opposed to the 2618, (the one I just got working), which does the mixing internally.
Do you see any problems I might have getting the 2702 to work?

It should work.
Load the 6ch heli template, set the protocol to WK2801 and the channel count to 8, plus click on helicopter to set the swash type and some reversing if it needed...
