Spencer, I just realized you mean HORNS not arms. Duh. They both stick up from the bottom hinge line by 9mm. This way I get 90 degrees travel on the flaps, and with a 5mm servo arm driving a 9mm horn, a little more than 45 degrees total throw.
Flap pivot point is slighty forward of the hinge line to get a full downward deployment. Aileron pivot is just even with the hinge line

Something to watch out for...

I had a hard landing the other day but everything appeared OK after a brief inspection. The next time out, I needed a little more up trim and couldn't figure out why. I had forgotten about the previous landing and thought it was due to being on the wrong program (I have 2 copies of this one in there for some reason). Taking Alan's wise advice I landed it and flew something else. Taking it apart later I found that I split the carbon tube on the elevator pushrod! I built this one quite a while ago and didn't renforce the end of the tube. Nowadays I countersink the clevis barrel into the tube and wrap the end with a fine Kevlar thread and hit with CA.

If something doesn't seem right get the plane on the ground and figure it out no matter how good the wind is ;o)

K2MDP maidened!

Waited till Saturday afternoon for the wind to fill in and stay a solid 25+ mph
before tossing my new ship into the flow.
I was eyeing the wind closely and biting my fingernails down to my knuckles.
Lee offered to fly his Kinetic first just to check the lift.
He took off and it looked just fine in the air. Then Lee and Reto did some super tall
half-pipes with the K2m and Reto's Pace VXE.

More on that in the "return to Tri-Cities" thread.

Lee launched my plane perfectly- straight out- picture perfect launch!
I made a bunch of laps back and forth and some rolls to check the response.
Roll response is good, AT SPEED, and it carries the inertia very well through the half-pipes I did.
I pulled my flaps at altitude to check the compensation, and it was almost perfect.

Brought it around to drop into the spacious LZ without a scratch.
Yes I am a happy camper! Next trip maybe more wind!

Thanks for the agave sweetener, Keith. I needed it

By the smile on Docs face after he landed it was plain to see that he was floored. It sure didn't look like a maiden flight by watching him zip around. Must have been the "flying water"

Glad to hear of the successful maiden Doug! Nice to see all the effort you put into the linkages and frames paying off!

As fun as the K2m is in big frontsode air, just wait till you see what it'll do on the backside ;o)

I was mostly concerned with keeping it from that stall& snap
thing that happens when you pull too hard or fly too slow.
My experience was pretty smooth handling, and it did want some
forward elevator trim.

I'm looking forward to flying it again!
