Sports Cub S SAFE Receiver installed in another UMX 4 channel plane

Has anyone taken the SAFE receiver out of a Sports Cub S and installed it in one of the 4 channel UMX planes?

There have been many postings of the SAFE receivers being taken out of the larger planes and re-installed in other planes. A few incidents of some channels needing to be reversed but for the most part new planes are now flying with the SAFE receivers.

Have not heard of instances of people pulling the SAFE receivers out of the small Sports Cub S and installed in other UMX planes?

That should work fine (famous last words) as long as the receiver board can be mounted in the same axis as it is in the cub. There isn't a lot of room inside the P40 so the board is mounted vertically instead of horizontally as it is in most other UM planes. I'm guessing the cub has a horizontal board and that may cause trouble here.

I just wanted to mention that I've played a lot with the AP03 (4000 and 7000Kv) and the AP05 (3000 and 5000Kv) and while there are some interesting combinations, the AP05 3000Kv always comes out way ahead on thrust per watt. That's important with these micro batteries because they can't handle much current for long.

In the P-40, the AP03 4000Kv works well because the stock propeller has such a low pitch. Combine an AP03 4000 with the UMX corsair prop and it works pretty good. (nothing like Valiant's inrunner/gearbox result though)

The AP03 7000Kv is awesome with a big battery but it kills a tiny battery with its large power draw.
thanks for bothering to write such a complete explanation of the subject! Il hve to get hold of the stuff for the inrunner-gearbox mod too! im mainly doing this upgrade to research the equipment i will use for scratchbuilds, so the p40 will be my flying test bed. Again, many thanks for your help!

I ordered a GB setup (4:1) from Ebay with a motor rated at 50k rpm (no load) and a micro coreless inrunner (also rated at 50k rpm)... Both ratings at 1S, Lets see what happens

Flew my P-40 with a Li-Polar mCPX booster. With a single 150mAh battery I can fly it for 2 minutes with the stock motor and the 4 bladed spitfire prop. With a 300mAh battery it flies 3 minutes. With 2 150s in series capped at 4,2V I flew 4 minutes. With the 2 150mAh batteries and additional 2,5g weight of the booster it really climbs good. But I'm still afraid of the hard power off. It can' t carry my 2S 250mAh GPMM0810 batteries. I have serious servo flutter even before activating the AS3X with throttle. I don't like these linear servos. Time for some deoxit when the motor is worn out.
