I have added another GWS bash to my fleet. Found the Zero wing is the right shape to make a F6F Hellcat.

Got a surprise this morning when I opened an email ad from GWS. There was my AS-6 bashed from a GWS Pizza.

My whole collection so far. I only own foamie's now since I do not have the patience for balsa kits anymore.

GWS Mitsubishi Zero with many Modifications

I found this kit at a local RC Auction. It was always a favorite flyer. This is my 4th Zero. After experiencing the past planes of which I have a converted one to a Rufe also I found the weaknesses of the early foam and made some alterations. Battery space was also made larger. So if you would like to make one some day with sensible upgrades here is a link to the Build Log.
http://forum.bristolcountyrc.org/vie...170&p=927#p927

Here are a couple pictures of what yo will see there. There are 2 pages in the Build Log.

Added pics after semi-gloss clear coating today.

My New and the Old Together

I have had 4 of these Zeros over the years. The new one has a white fuselage stripe. These 2 are #3 and #4 that I have owned. . My 2nd Zero was converted to a Rufe. The first one I flew was back when they were new somewhere around 2006 maybe.

Formation Imitation flying.. These pictures are cool because they were taken in suspension to give a flight effect. Somewhat a little artistic but with a load of editing to get them where they are. After I took the pictures I gave the older to a young 8 year old boy to hang in his bedroom.

I posted some of the pair here but the rest are in Flickr storage here if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Hello Chen.
I love Japanese aircraft. I gave the rebuilt Zero away a couple days ago. Made a youngster real happy. I now have only 2 GWS Zeros. I have 4 more GWS aircraft also. I think the Zero was always my favorite flyer. I also have a balsa Zero. Then all these foamies here. A Hayate Frank, Hien Tony, twin motor Kawasaki Nick, and a 8 foot wing 4 motor Kawanishi Emily seaplane. Almost all of those are scratch builds. Numerous other planes also making a big squadron.
Thanks

Hello Chen and Others,
For your pleasure.
Here are a couple of logs on the Kawanishi Emily seaplane.

Picture build log:

By clicking my RC Groups avatar you will see a video link and other Groups logs like my 10 foot Martin Mars seaplane.

The balsa Mitsubishi Zero was bought about 8 years ago from a builder on eBay. Very well made but unfinished in the 1/12th scale size like the GWS Zero. It is in primer. I just never finished it. Only needs electrics and a nice paint job. It has a thin light weight fiberglass cowl . Wingspan is 39 inches as the GWS is 33 inches or so. This plane needs to be a special build for me. Maybe retracts at least.

And I attached a Zero made for my friend and painted a false home defense scheme.

And 10 years ago is a picture of my Kawasaki Ki45 Nick and my Hien Tony both are foam scratch builts.

And last but not least is my conversion to a Rufe. My Nakajima Ki84 Frank is not here as it is a Czech Rep Arf kit
Older references to the Ki45 Nick Toryu here:

Hello Guys Thank you.
I never realized how many planes the Axis Japanese had in their inventory. My love for their designs goes way back n mid 50's when I flew with a group of CL guys. Each of us took on a nation of favorite planes and it made our discussions purposeful and sometimes boisterous. It was all in fun and we learned a load about all aircraft, So I wish I could have met Degreen and we would surely have had a lot of fun together. He is a great builder also and on the same track." Nip at 11:00 o'clock". Have fun.

I have recently assembled a GWS Zero. It is a great flyer. I have put a 30A esc and 3S 2200mah power. It can last for 7 minutes flight with full throttle. Thanks Neons I have referenced to his post for this model
