I also detest foam wings but sometimes I have no choice. Built up wings are my preference though. I think I did not build the Mooney in 1975 because of foam wings and no clue how to make them let alone where to obtain foam to cut at that time.

I do not have access to Autocad and do not know how to use it. Perhaps you would be willing to write a short tutorial for WMD to place on Outerzone describing how to calculate and make the ribs in Photoshop or Corel Draw? I know I would find it useful.

Ah, sorry no. This is all I have. To be honest, I didn't even notice the foam wing when I posted it. Doh. Not so vintage after all. I agree though, a tutorial on how to draw out ribs for tapered wings would be fantastic. I would be very happy to host that on Outerzone of course. We could actually (over time) generate a whole library of many many tutorials - there is plenty space on there.

I don't know if the plans for what I have is of any interest, but I recently acquired 3 early '70s planes with boxes and full-size plans.

All are in the 50" wingspan/5lbs/.40-.60 range.

- Jemco AT-6 with the 'GOTCHA' air-racing decals,

- SIG Skybolt bipe (kit RC-34),

- Midwest "Clipped Wing" taylorcraft aerobatic trainer.

(Maybe someone needs the K&B .40 engine from it?)

All are in the 50" wingspan/5lbs/.40-.60 range.

Would love to see more plans posted in this thread. When I started this thread I thought it would be popular as I considered 60's to mid 70's to be the prime modeling time so I expected a lot more plans to have been posted.

OK, so how does one scan these- just march into office despot and swear they aren't copyrighted and scan them?

BTW I just turned down a SIG King Kobra kit that looked complete (did have the plans), guy wanted $40 but I am not that enamored of cutting shapes out of balsa. Box was beat to death.

Ditto a 1963 VRCO beach Comber kit.

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding about the thread's name. You state Pre 1977 plans only. The other thread states Pre 1960 only. In Pre 1977. all models previous to 1977 and passing back 1960 can also be included because you did not say on what year to stop. Or perhaps you meant pre 1977 to 1960? This would be a nice clarification.

In my case it's because of 2 things-

One, I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler, and butcher anything I try to carve out of stock

Two, I don't have a great deal of time, would rather fly than build.

Mind you, I get a *lot* of practice carving replacement bits that I've broken.

When I got into this hobby back in 1953, hardcore hobbyists complained that real modelers didn't build airplanes from kits with die-cut parts.
