Build Log
Aero Tetris 1600 mm J-35 Draken

Will start a build log for the 1600 mm (lenght) Aero Tetris J-35 Draken. The kit arrives next week I hope.

As I know this is the first to be built to this date.

- 90 mm EDF
- 6 Cells (5000 mha)
- 150 amp ESC
- Retracts

When testflown several times the plan is to mount a T25 Kolibri turbine.

Paintscheme

The "Acro Deltas" from 1964 or so.

I look forward to your build, Mankan. Your information is always very valuable for these Bukvorez kits. I am still deciding between the Viggen and Draken. The Draken is cleaner and I'm leaning towards it. It depends how your build goes.

Thanks!

Have done my chare of mistakes perhaps now... Hahah

The 1600 mm Draken and the 1420 mm Viggen will be easy to transport. The Draken is nice but my guess is that the Viggen is a little more easy to fly.

Will build the Draken in turbo speed but not taking short cuts, of course!

Taking off from grass is a must. What I have heard from other Draken rc-flyers is the positive angle off attack helping out.

If we talk about weight, just to guess, for the fun of it :

- weight glued: 500 gr.
- EDF + motor (90 mm): 550 gr.
- ESC: 100 gr.
- Retracts: 250 gr.
- Servos: (2): 50 gr.
- Pilot, receiver, wires, carbon fiber rods, covering, colours: 300 gr.
-Lipo: 6 cells, 5000 mha: 700 gr.

Missed anything?

Total: 2450 gr.

Wingarea: 70,56 square dm.

2450 / 70,56 = 34,7.

Wingloading: 34,7 gram /square dm.

If the numbers above is correct then this J-35 Draken will probably be one of the best flying ones out there. It weighs around 1000 gr less than the f-16 from Freewing wich is in the same size.

Do we have a winner here perhaps?

So, I am waiting for the postman to knock on my door. If it arrives today, then the work will begin today. All foam parts together until sunday.

This model is super scale and even more super super light. But there are a lot of parts. I strongly suggest future builders to sort the parts before building. If done properly the building progress will be cut many times.

My sollution is to use aluminium boxes. Marking them with numbers from 1 to 40. This plane is 40 sections long. All part in each section goes to the correct box. Now you can build one section in a couple of minutes only.

Found that foam safe CA and accelerator works best for me.

Ok....pictures!

Section number 12 is done. Building number 11 next, until the nose is attached.

Looking forward to this build too Mankan, looks like your747 will have to wait a while before she can fly. She looks nice sitting on the sofa but I assume she will jealous when she sees this Draken :-)

Hello Guys,
As I was planning on developing and building a light weight Balsa construction F15 (Similar to the old Bob Parkinson's Regal Eagle) around 200 cm in length I ran across the Aero Tetris info thru the RC Group 's forums. I was glued to it for the whole day. Simply amazing. The Tetris design makes so much sense. Very light weight on large models around the 2 meter length that we can actually see in a distance.
I was surprise and disappointed to see the Gianni"s F15 build thread stopped on Feb. 2014 close to being finished. I wonder what ever happened to this project?
Is the company still shipping kits?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Solly

A new day, more building!

Have done 12 sections now, 28 to go. The first ones are slow, but after a while it speeds up. CA-glue and activator is the best sollution I have tried. Just put a small amount of glue to one part. Spray a litte activator on the glue and press the two parts together. After 5 seconds it is done - next part.

The twelve sections and some filler weighs only 40 grams. If this plane only shall be used as a hand launcher, then it will be able to fly with a 70 mm fan and 4 cells. It is so light. If the builder thinks about weight then you have a glider, haha.

Is a 250 - 300 gram for the whole 1600 mm plane possible?

This is so nice....

It took just about 45 minutes to make the afterburner.

After a while it is important to not build in any kind of misalignment. Using a carbon rod.
