you want something around 500W to be similar to a 3.5cc diesel.

Best to ask in the power forum.

Sorry. There's a thread on this forum about how to pronounce "nobler":

no-bler or Knob-ler. makes no real difference

Electric Nobler

You are welcome. By the way, it flies fantastically. It was my first CL since 1957!

O.K. you control line electric guru's, I have a couple of questions:

1. What is governer control on a ESC?
2. Why would you need a timer when you could just size the battery for what ever time you needed?

I'm planning on using this set up in a single channel pulse instalation and have been struggling with the ESC and Timer issues.

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer.

BTW, Ekotil, I drove none stop 4 years ago to Athens to pick up a Powered Parachute from a Don Stutts. 18 hours, got a bite to eat @ Apple Bees, got some shut eye, picked up the PPC the next morning and drove none stop back. A man will do crazy things when he is chasing a dream. Have been flying PPC's ever since and love it. Just last year go back into modeling. Too many hobbies!

I have never used the governor control on a plane. It may be for a helicopter. Most helis both fuel and electric maintain a constant RPM and the throttle stick controls going up or down when they are CCPM! The timer is a must. I set mine for 60 seconds delay which gives my plenty of time to walk to my control handle and prepare to fly. When the length of the flight that you have set is almost up, the timer surges the motor a few times to warn you that the power is ready to wind down which it does slowly to help you land safely. The timer is what got me back into C/L since I am total electric on all my models and often fly alone! I know Don and have flown some myself in a buddies rig!

Governor control maintains a more or less constant speed even when the load changes. It's sort of the electric equivalent of the famous 4-2-4 engine run.

A timer is a lot more convenient than trying to work out different size batteries to compensate for wind etc. Also used for free flight where it's great to get a number of flights out of one battery. Also it's not a good idea to run lipo batteries down to exhaustion, it can cause damage if the cut-off voltage is not well controlled. But the main point is that brushless motors/speed controllers will not run at all without a signal like that from an RC receiver. When you have no receiver and no throttle you need something to produce that signal...that's what the timer circuit does.
