There is always someone faster; try something different, or ask how to lay that lap time down.

This is serious and applies to all driving/riding:

"smooth under control is faster than point and shoot and hope you make the corner"
Chris Nicastro

I am telling this to my son (13), who's just started stock TC's!!!!
He's trying hard to follow the advise! And so do I!

Agreed, there is nothing like being last at the start, and finishing first at the end only because you kept the rubber side down.

Cant count the number of races i have won becuase i calmed down and forgot about pressure to win.

All and all running a reallly clean race, clean passing, and a rewarding end effect.

Back in the '80's racing 1/8th on road, my pit man, Laurie, would speak quietly before a big final:
"Smooth is fast, Smooth is fast" and just before the race starts he yells up to me on the drivers stand "Smooth is fast, But Ballistic looks better, so go hard fella". I usually cracked up laughing and fluffed the start. Lucky he was fantastic in the pit, and physically double my size, so no messing with the pit man.

..."lay the baby in the cradle" marshalling....

When I met Stubby in Leipzig one of the first things we talked about was the different ways the marshalls put bikes back on the course. I love this phrase, and everytime I see someone doing that I dont get angry I just have to smile envisioning how Stubby showed me what he was talking about..
