have started work on my new project, german sdkf halftrack!

am using a panzer 3 chassis at the back and have taken the steering block from one of my old rc race cars, seems to be going well atm, shall put pictures up once complete. may need some help so will be asking questions on this thread so please keep a look out for me hehe

as requested here are some pictures of my progress at the moment

21/4/09: just tested my halftrack out in the garden and it works perfectly!

am really happy with the way it works! and it looks great eventhough its not painted, just got to decide what camo sceme to use... any suggestions?

That first pic looks a bit fake to me

The others are great though

Loads of room for some more 'scale' ideas there, the towed gun is a nice one.

I reckon you need about 5 weathered soldiers clinging on and a load of misc tackle sitting in the back of the truck now... What land mines maybe? or supplies?

thanks i was thinking of building this version with the 88mm gun (i think it is) on top. yeah good idea, did see what it would look like with a commander on it but because this is now larger than 1/16 scale didnt look quite right, and thank you for the linky

has helped alot with ideas (Y)

It's not an 88MM gun (that platform isn't large enough for that gun) but the Pak 40 gun instead.

just looking at some images of a pak 40 i think i can put an 88mm gun(modified) on it so it looks like a pak40

Images View all Images in thread Views: 1328 Views: 93 i attached a front steering box of my old Nikko WRC car on the front and added larger tyres, i took the turret of the panzer 3 so i had room to put the side and front plates on. Views: 63 have the aerial and battery connector sticking out ready for when the rest of the parts are added Views: 58 side plates added today, Views: 59 Views: 59 backend completed, i know the back isnt accurate to a german half track but because ive build the body over the old p`nzer 3 hull the shape wasnt right for it. Views: 79 added a trailer 75mm muzzled gun, works very on on this half track and cant wait to paint it :D Views: 66 front skirts/wheel arches added, Views: 54 my halftrack at the moment!, is almost complete but does need a paint job as you can see, i think im just going to do for a basic halftrack grey, keeping it simple (Y) Views: 63 silver base coat put on!, am going to go for a desert yellow (arfica corps) design so will do that probably later in the week Views: 38 new front end attached, more authentic and gives the front wheels more spring and clearence Views: 56 top roll bars for wen the battery cover is added Views: 47 halfway through painting (Y) have taken tracks and front wheels off so ofc its easier to paint, wat yu cant see hre is that the back kinda fell off wen i dropped it :\| Views: 46 paint finnaly complete! all to do now is add decals and bits and bobs Views: 33 bad image of the tracks added to the front and the headlights both taken from the old panzer 3 Views: 41 side rack taken from the panzer 3 added to the ride to hang random bits on :) Views: 43 gun carriage complete, tho in these photos yu cant see it but ive put alot of detail into it even adding shells to it :P Views: 41**
