Anemometers

Which ones are reliable?

The HK job is sh*t.

I have been using a La Crosse one for the last few years but the battery seems to have a set life of about 4 months and now the LCD screen is half dead.

I am looking for a reliable one that doesn't cost triple figures

This is what I use http://www.top-gear.co.nz/shop/SHOP+...A-3010+NL.html

It was good but the Wellington wind is a bit too much for it and it has a vibration after about 80kph now

I've got a handheld one from Inspeed and it's pretty rugged and reliable (mostly keep it on a 19' sailboat.)

My Kestrel is about 8yrs old and is on it's second impeller but works great. I recommend one of the models with the replaceable impeller because its only a matter of time until it gets damaged.

I have had a Windmate 200 for the last 12 years. It works great still, have yet to need to replace the impeller. It has a 1/4-20 brass thread for tripod mounting.
