Oh, it's not unusual at all, in that it was started by a particular Brit, who starts threads with subjects that poke certain groups of LTUP posters.

There are many earlier threads haranguing non-US Healthcare systems - mainly at the time Obama was trying to address some of your problems, if I remember!
Most of the time, the US was compared to various European healthcare systems, often while ignoring the inherent and demonstrated problems in those systems.

In addition, most on "my" side, that is, the side that considers Federal control of healthcare with much trepidation, admit the problems in US healthcare. We aren't blind, you know, we just know that adding 40 million "uninsured" to the US system will not make things better for any demographic in the US. The poorest will still be denied services, the very rich will not pay into the system, the basic American will receive poorer and poorer quality healthcare as the years go by, with no recourse but to continue on. He won't be able to switch providers, because Obama's ultimate goal is a single payer system like the UK's.

You already see the effects. Many doctors are now refusing to add any Medicare patients to their patient lists. That is the future of US healthcare, where the rich pay retainers to doctors, and receive the only decent healthcare in the country, and everyone else gets HMO Minus grade healthcare. No choice, no options, no second opinion, no way around the inevitable rationing.

Someone should tell him to look at the German system. Or the French.

It works for me. You would have to be a very rich American to get the level of service I enjoy from my family Doctor.

I don't know what kind of care you get, but it would be very hard to beat what we get with our family Dr. And, I'm not rich by any account. If I want to see my Dr. I can usually see him the same day. And, I usually arrive a bit early for my appointment, and many times I'm in my car on the way home at the time my appointment was scheduled for.

Tuesday is my five year up periscope. Dr`s appt was mid Jan. for the referal to the specialist. Saw the specialist Feb 20th, and the procedure was scheduled for March 12th.

By and large I`d say those wait times are pretty reasonable for an elective procedure under a universal care system. And just to clarify, if it was emergent, I`d be bumped to the front of the line.

You know that will never happen. We need him to keep on telling us how bad that the U.S. is.

The US healthcare system is worse than some 3rd world countries in categories...

But hey, those countries put a man on the moon before I was born so that's to be expected

Because the right didn't want single payer!!!

Look, liberal ideas are better than the right except in the area of killing people...in that area the right reigns supreme.

Murdock (a horrid, horrible human being) has convinced the majority of the right in America via FAUX News that they ARE rich.

Even though red states in America give back less in federal dollars than they take in....

Even though a vast majority of people who vote for the right are about as broke as possible

Murdochs FAUX News tells the right the moon is made of cheese and they go and get their crackers!!

Keep up, the poster said you can get good healthcare in America if you're rich

Then I mentioned most of the right thinks they're rich cause FAUX News told them they are...

IE, the rights opposition to an health care changes
