Build Log
Maxa-E 4m

Hello!

I've already made a bulid log for Hyper Ava and Supra-e Competition and now it's time I make one for Maxa-E.

Maxa is a breathtaking glider made with stunning accuarcy.
Of course it's the newest glider made by Vladimir's Model.

It's made out of new Spread Tow carbon so it's not only the strongest but also the lightest 4m glider.

Few specifications:
Wing span 3.9 m
Wing area 82.2 dm2
Length 173 cm
Flying weight around 1842 g
Wing loading 22.4 g/dm

I will use this electronics:

Servos:
Elevator: MKS DS65K
Rudder: Hyperion 09-AMD
Ailerons: MKS DS6100
Flaps: MKS DS6125 mini

Speed control: Kontronik Koby 90A
Motor: HET 2W
Gearbox: KPG 5:1 or Reissenauer 5:1
Batteries: Hyperion 1100Mah 3S 45C

I bought everything in this amazing and reliable store:
http://www.hyperflight.co.uk/

Maxa will be bulid for rough handling because it's made for F5J FAI competitions.

Pictures will describe most of the work

So I started with tail servos:

I used a " double servo lock" made by my brother on CNC machine, so fitting servos in fin is simple and in case that servo fails, you can remove it on competition. Servo lock is screwed in place. Small screws provided with MKS DS65K servo are used.

Here is the video of tail servos working:

Bulid continues on the wing.

Installing wing servos in really a piece of cake to do. Wires are allready installed and push rods are made. All you have to do is glue servo lock in right position an screw servos in.

Wing is finished. I needed to see how big it is outside .

Now all I need to do is glue together fuselage and boom and extend tail servos wires and install power train.

Makes sense since you won't be subjecting it to the winch.

I understand, Barry. But on Vladimir's page there are different basic weights listed for the light and windy versions. That is what I'm referring to. Here's a link that shows the difference in chart form - unless I'm not understanding this. http://f3j.in.ua/en/maxa-el-family.html And as long as we're on the topic do you have the latest version of the e-Maxa in stock, Barry, the one with the new fin. Thanks.

Well done!
Would love to see some videos!
Don't know why Maxa's videos are so rare to find.

Hi!

I'm sorry to report so late. But I have a good excuse .

Maxa flies like an angel filled with helium. I have a big competition in few days so I needed to do some exercise.

This plane is amazing! It's flies exactly like a DLG or maybe better. It can make so tight circles , that you can use any kind of thermal you spot. Hand launch thermalling is very simple, I've done it many times now. Sink rate is close to zero. And landing accuracy is amazing. It's simple to hit the spot.

Here is the video, which was uploaded on you tube just a minute ago .
If you remember my hand launch thermalling with Supra, this will be very familiar.
F5J/F3J Maxa-4e , Hand Launch Thermalling (3 min 38 sec)

This pictures were taken today.

Rok,

Did your fin come pre-slotted for installation of the servos in the tail or did you have to modify it yourself?

Thanks,
Randy

We have 2 of the MAXA e in stock with the new style fin. One is a Red 3.5 and the other is a Yellow 4m.
The fin comes unslotted for the servos because we don't know what brand of servos the customer wants to use.
