The new foam can't take 90?!
![]() uh oh. One possibility if you did want to weave it would be water-based contact cement. Same type of stuff used on counter top laminate and flooring, but without the nasty dissolvy stuff. You could just brush it on instead of spraying, then use the spreader card to smash the weave and smooth it. Or tack it down with Elmer's water-based spray adhesive. Then give it CK's "extra love" treatment with PU glue that's continuously wiped and smoothed till it cures. |

I Think I'm Ready To Maiden
It always takes twice as long as you think it should doing those last few jobs!
Ready to maiden this week with Mega 16/40/1.5SC on 6 cell 5000's gives a RTF weight of 2.03kg including the 3 oz of lead I installed to give me a conservative CG. I was pretty pleased with myself as my first Demon with the same motor weighed 2.17kg and that was with smaller 4000 batteries! ![]() With a 6.5x5 APC Pylon prop this will draw, straight and level, just over 100amps or about 2160 watt so I will only be able to do short WOT bursts. I can always subsitute a 4 cell 4000 for one of the 3 cell 5000's to run it on 7 cells and a 6x4 on a slightly higher kV motor for laughs too but the intention is to run 8 cell 4000's most of the time with another lower kV motor.

Peter,
I think that ESC will be just fine, its the motor I am worried about. That nice MEGA sticker insulates the can from dissipating heat. Do you have room for a heatsink between the 2 motor clamps ? Is it just laminated ? Did you use Riteweave ? How many and what size spars ? |

Hi Mopar,
The intention is not to push this motor and just to get it flying so I haven't worried about a heatsink at this stage. There is room for a heatsink between the mounts - I just have to cut one to lenght. 'Spose I could alway fit one tonight (and pull the sticker off as well!). Thanks Mopar, better safe than sorry I guess! ![]() It is a traditional build consisting of main spar, surface spars, riteweave, 90 and laminate. I have also installed a top surface cf spar to compensate for the loss of the use of corflute for the hatch covers: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...ostcount=11297 The weight loss over my last one has been mainly the minisation of the need to add lead and very thin paint! Regards Peter |

Mega 16/40/1.5rc
Clique,
How many runs did you get with the Mega 16/40/1.5rc on 6S with the 6.5x6.5 prop? Did you get any numbers from the flight(s) watts, amps... I saw this on a video for m SEFF. I believe it was strapped onto a Demon. Trying to get some max figure for the motor. I currently fly it on 4S with a 7x6 gas prop. |
