Guys, what's up?! I just ordered one Nitroplanes Swift Kit Electric RC 4 Channel aaand, as a noobie, my question is, can I use one "HobbyWing FlyFun ESC 60A" on this beauty? And I want to use a "GENS ACE 3000mah 2S1P 7.4V 25C hard case Lipo battery(TRX) Racing Approved Batteries" to prolong the flight time, you think can overweight? Thanks in advance and sorry for my ignorance, I'm new on this field...

Overall weight is the enemy of good gliding. The lighter the better.
Hard case batteries are good on RC cars but of no use on gliders.
The ESC should be a function of the motor and size of the propeller not of what you have in the spares box.
Read through the thread. There is plenty discussion of motors, props, batteries and ESC's.

That was my fear, Galand, thanks for your reply...actually I have bought the other kit "http://www.nitroplanes.com/projet-drone-2500mm-kit.html" but for a beginer like me is too complicated...then I'm gonna try the Swift Kit and try to learn to fly before put the Reaper in the air...Here are the itens I bougt to build my Swift:

Optima 450 22201800KV Brushless Motor for RC Planes
1552 Folding Props (CW/CCW)
Solar Servo A108 0.12@4.8v Analog 8.5g Micro Servo (x4)
GENS ACE 3000mah 2S1P 7.4V 25C hard case Lipo battery(TRX) Racing Approved Batteries

I tried to buy this ESC "HobbyWing AIRCRAFT SYSTEM SkyWalker Series 40A ESC" but it was out of stock, then I am thinking in using the one I bought to the Reaper.

It's gonna be my first plane, that's why all these questions. My friend is taking everything to me, I am from Brazil, so can you imagine my anxiety, guys?

Thanks for your help in advance...

As a first plane and trainer I would recommend a Bixler
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...00mm_ARF_.html
It is a cheap kit and a lot more room inside than the Swift. Very stable flier and foam is easier to repair. You will have repairs, believe me
The pusher prop will save you a fortune in broken props.
It is also a fair glider.
Also I would recommend to build in a stabilizer like the Guardian.

I built four Bixlers. Two of them are still flying,
The others two are crash victims from before i had the Guardians.
The Swift looks good but is really not a beginner-builder kit and not a trainer either.
The, for me, all time best glider is the Radian.

Hey Galand, what's up man?!
I've just received my package including the plane and eletrônica, but I think I made a mistake, to not say a lot of them...these are the components I have bought:
Quantity Item
1 GENS ACE 3000mah 2S1P 7.4V 25C hard case Lipo battery(TRX) Racing Approved Batteries
8 Solar Servo A108 0.12@4.8v Analog 8.5g Micro Servo
1 1552 Folding Props (CW/CCW)
1 Optima 450 2220-1800KV Brushless Motor for RC Planes

First I bought the wrong battery, too big and heavy for the plane. Second, the motor (oooh maaaan) looks like it came with the screw holes at the botom, not on the top, damn. Third, there was no 45A ESC at the time I bought everything, só now I will spend more money here in Brasil to do that. Also there was no folding props available, more costa, oh my!
This is the link of the motor, tell me, I did BS, right?!

I think I should bought this one

If this material is for the Swift, only the servo's are usable.
The battery is too heavy, the motor cannot be reverse mounted and the props are multi-copter props that fold sideways not backwards as needed on a glider.
Wait with the ESC until you have made a motor and prop choice.
I will post a suggestion later.
I buy most of my stuff from Hobbyking. They seem to be cheaper and have bigger range.

Suggestions for Swift Kit

Motor:
https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...dproduct=21478
Good weight to power to price ratio.
Prop Hub:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0mm_Shaft.html
Blades:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...10x6_1pc_.html
ESC
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ontroller.html
This will give you a balanced system where all the components fit together.

Setting up the Guardian takes a bit of experience.
I would strongly recommend buying a Bixler kit first.
Foam is a lot easier to repair, saves you from the trouble of killing yourself

Hi guys, I'm new to posting, so here goes; I just finished my Swift kit. I cut the pod nose down and built my own firewall to fit a 3536 1000kv outrunner. I use a 9.5x7.5 folding prop on 4cells. trying to make it a bit of a hot liner. The instructions for the kit are defiantly for a different plane. I have not flown the plane yet because I'm not sure of the CG. Anybody have any suggestions on CG location?
