Looks like these are a tad longer but should work. They also fit the wheel size. I think the strut for the eflites are 5mm though, might have to do a lil drilling.

I have a set of 25 - 46 e-flite retracts laying around, i was wondering if they would fit on the 1700mm p-51.

I got those and the wheel dia. is to small for the stock wheels which are 3.75". Adding smaller wheels just dont look right.

I tried that but my canopy was too foggy and blury to see through and get any good video...I scrapped all the video of where I tried that...mine wasn't any good

Has anyone had trouble with the tail gear not working right of the box? Mine worked after the build for about 5 times then just stopped. I rebind it and still nothing. I can hear it click but will not retract out. Any suggestions?

I got a set of those 40-120 Skylites when I was building my Auntie Sam P-51. The problem I encountered was the wheel offset, it wasn't the conventional P-51 offset so I ended up going with the VQ P-51 struts.

I did find they would work on the P-47 so that's where they ended up. After doing some very minimal grinding I was able to get a set of Robart 3" wheels on mine, but finally settled for the 2 3/4" Robarts because of wheel well clearances. And yes, before anyone mentions it, I am aware that the struts are on the wrong side, but at this time I have no intention of changing them.

Hello guys,
I 'm going to maiden my p-51 this weekend and i'm really paranoid about landing it. I've only belly landed planes and never have i landed with gears or on wheels being that my flight field is grass. Can you please provide me with some tips?

What throttle range should i be with full flaps? 25% till touchdown?

What is the minimum i can fly without stalling with full flaps in the air?

other than that i think i should be golden.

1st get high enough to recover and deploy flaps, slowly reduce throttle zero and wait for it to stall. This is the slowest you can go before you stall.

I cant really give you an exact throttle %, because eveyones throttle can be setup differently. If I was you I would just practice your approaches a few times and judge you speed as you come in. You should start lossing altitude around 25%-30% throttle as I do, but again that also depends on your cg and elevator trim.

Its a hard question to answer exactly , but practice is the best. Here's my best advice...



Always keep a pinch of throttle on until right before touchdown or she'll drop n stall on landings. Until you learn your planes tendencies.
