I have a gyro on my CF ailerons also. It is connected between the Y-cable and receiver. It really helps control the plane in a wind. I hope to try a second gyro on the elevator in the future.

What a waste. You made other mistakes too.
1. Tried to go it alone. Should get an experienced pilot to help you.
2. Took off too soon. Let the plane build up speed on the ground before take off, and will avoid stall.
3. Inexperienced pilots should not self hand launch. The mistake you made was running instead of tossing.
Don't give up, rebuild, and for your plane's sake...get help.

Your second plane is the AXN Floater Jet, correct? And you have flown it twice.
If you can fly the Floater Jet twice successfully all you need is practice. The FJ is tough and possibly easier to fly than the Cessna. Keep flying.

What happens if you use the rudder? By design, it's going to roll the plane as well as yaw. Does the gyro then try to correct this? I.E. does it neutralize the roll?

Sorry to see that.
Looks like the CF came out better than the T-28 from this dog fight!!

Out with the hot water, glue gun and duct tape.

maestros: check out this video, it might help with the plane's flight performance: http://www.youtube.com/user/RCSuperP.../3/Z0ommndIsJQ

A bit of bad luck there - but also it looks the lesson you learned on the sim were not put into practiced with the real plane.

I know this because I have done something similar
You need to get the plane FLYING before you start turning or climbing.

Good luck with the repairs.

Yes - good point! A gyro on the ailerons will actually neutralize the roll that the rudder causes (which occurs mostly because of the dihedral effect of those raised wing tips).

Roll is a secondary effect of using the rudder. The primary effect is yaw. The yaw causes the raised up wing tip to face the airflow more, and so more lift is generated under that wing tip (it has a greater angle of attack) .... and it goes up, rolling the plane.

As this roll is not the result of aileron input, the gyro will detect the roll and turn the ailerons the other way, to correct it.

The result should be that the rudder's effect should be mainly (or only) yaw.

It was mensioned in post 1653 but wasn't talked about since -
The Banana Hobby Sky Surfer http://www.bananahobby.com/1937.html Looks familiar?
The RTF ver. comes with everything you need - a Lipo and it's charger, an instruction manual, and a 2.4 SPECTRUM system. Yeah, spectrum with a C.

Another interesting this is this site: http://www.lowpricerc.com which has a Naked ver. of the AXN Floater Jet without the ESC and servos for 15$ less than the ARTF

Both sites are cheaper than www.Hobbycity.com when it comes to the Easy-star wanabeez, altough I'd still recommend getting servos and batt. from HK and the motor+ESC from RCTimer.

This thing is a nice package, $130 + 34$ shipping to Canada for the brushless model. Might get one for a second plane myself.

Buyer Beware!!
This is a clone of the Hawk Sky that Dave Powers raves about BUT it has a brushed inrunner motor. Note the suggested upgrade to a Brushless motor for an additional $30. One would hope that includes a brushless ESC!
The Tx is also a clone - not saying it's bad but still not as good as a true SpeKtrum.

Part 1 - That is because it is not available. Only one person owns one. I have sent many, many emails to them asking if they are "IN STOCK". they never answer the emails and nobodys seems to have one other than one little kid. You can find the video on utube for that one. Also, they have no parts either.
Part 2 - There are about 4 places that you can get various configurations of the CF. Ultimately, to get any of them RTF is within a couple of bucks of each other assuming you have no parts whatsoever.
Part 3 - I have bought several motors from RCTimer. They have their problems too. The magnets like to come loose very easily. The good news is that you can carefully glue them back in (if you happen to get one that has the magnet guides). So, that place is not necessarily a red hot deal either. Although, some guys in here have had very good luck with their motors. But, I buy all my props and 3.5mm plugs, and Dean's knock-offs from them I have tested their TGS knockoff props against the real thing and found time after time that the knockoffs provide more thrust with slightly less amps than the real thing. IMO-the props ARE a red hot deal.
In summary, all is not always as it appears.

Red color

Finished paint my CF with red color. Now I can fly without worrying loosing her in the cloudy sky.

The bottom part of the fuselage is actually red tape. Helps protect the foam when landing.
