Question
Miss Elam Upgrade Motor QUESTION

Hey guys, well i have a 1/12 scale Miss Elam, long story short there was a fire in the middle from the electronics. I had to replace everything in it. All electronics that is, so during all my runs water would always get into the hall and motor. Finally at the end of the season, my motor got corroded and stopped turning over.
It was the stock one though that ran with all my new electronics. SO here is my question, what is the fastest motor i can put into my Elam? My electronics consist of:
AquaCraft 60 amp brushless esc lipo ready

Spectrum 2.4 GHz DSM SR200 sport surface receiver

Waterproof traxxas survo

& my controller DX2E DSM radio system.

The boat runs off two 2s lipo batteries. Hobby town did my new electronic swap just to let you know.

Hope to hear some answers! Thanks guys! (and girls maybe)

Something in the 2000-2200kv range is your best bet, not sure if a 3674 will fit or if it's too long and you're limited to 3660's?

I think an AQ UL-1 motor would provide all of the speed that hull can handle. With the right prop it could hit 50 mph on 4s, which I think is very respectable, even though I am not sure the Elam hull will stay on the water at that speed.

The UL-1 motor and the 60 amp controller will work fine together. Combine that with a reasonable prop, up to something like an m645, and you should see similar performance to the video and no fires.

It should.... as for fires, it all depends on your prop selection and boat set up....the UL-1 motor and 65 Amp controller have been proven in LOTS of race setups over the past few years.

It also sounds like you need to educate yourself on post run maintenance...a simple shot of WD-40 into the motor after each run where you got water in the hull would have prevented to motor from coroding.

Here is my boat set up right now. The prop is the standard one that comes with the boat.
