newbie questions: EEyes tracking..

Ok, I'm a real newbie at all of this..

I've got the eagle eyes diversity box..
I've got the readyRC pan/tilt..

What else do I need to get the antenna tracking to 'do its thing'?

You'll need osd pro with gps, high quality rca cables for ground av & lipo 3s power supply.

Oh & a good magnetic compass to use in the setup. All your VRX gear with skew planner wheel antenna & helical or patch along with some good servos for pan tilt.

That's it.
Compass is used as a reference when setting up. Manual helps here.
You will also probably need some SMA fittings, and perhaps some short SMA-end coaxial cables- it's hard to know exactly what till you do it. SMA is a real pain in the butt because the rather cryptic naming of fittings and coax- order a few of everything that looks close, and you may just hit it. Ebay.
Let us know how it goes- I'm right behind you.

thanks..

Could be a (short) while, HKing has the Pro, but not the GPS.. (put that on email alert..)

Yeah, sma connectors.. and rp-sma conectors.. I've used them before, on 2.4G...
Getting decent low-loss coax is the major hurdle. RG58 just isnt going to cut it...

At the moment Ive got the 5.8G receivers plugged straight into the antennas, so no need for patch cords.
and the cloverleafs are on their way from HK...

I looked on ebay for short patch leads, shortest one was a metre long, with the wrong connector on one end. A couple of 10 metre leads, but I can only imagine how much loss there'd be...(no thanks!)...

I'll come back as soon as I get the gps and pro.....

You need an eLoggerv3/v4 as well if you don't already have it.

so my 'shopping list' is:

OSD Pro
GPS Expander

and an eLogger?
there seems to be three versions, a 'micropower V4' a 'micropower v4 with wire leads' and a 'heavy duty elogger'
hmm....

Hi,

We used to call the eLogger the "MicroPower eLogger" but shortened it. The 3 versions are:
- eLogger V4 100 amp max measurement with integrated Deans connectors
- eLogger V4 100 amp max measurement with wire leads (no connectors)
- 150 amp version with wire leads

thanks!

question:
does the osd send the gps info down the audio, or encoded onto the video?
(do I need to connect the receiver's audio to the eagle eyes, or is the video only enough?)

Video is all that is needed for telemetry, but I like audio so I can hear the motor.
