"Giant 15Kwatt Foamy Jet"

Over the years I have done number of triptych paintings mainly of marine subjects depicting 'romantic days of sail'. So I got this great idea why not build "TRIPTYCH" EDF jet. The main 7.5Kwatt 127mm fan will be supported on each side by 4Kwatt, 90mm unit creating some 16kg thrust. Three ESCs with total 420 Amp capacity will supply power from four 6S and four 4S/4-5Ah batteries. The whole model is being build from 6mm sheets of foam using my lamination method and over 30 meters of C/F. Aprx. 10x7 feet model is expected to weight 12-15kg inc. 5-6kg in batt. I'm so exited about this monster that I'm already well ahead with my build time schedule to see if I can make it or brake it? Joe.

I loaded it up today with all the bits to get some idea about my batteries placement to minimize the length of leads. Will have to solder on 8 extra capacitors to my 3 ESCs.

You need to fill us in on some specs!! All CS fans? Battery weight? You might consider some channel iron in the center section, to hold all those batteries!! At least some CF.

Thanks for all above comments, I'm pleased to say the frame is complete and starting to hand paint the whole thing today firstly applying base coat to spot all the dints. Originally I expected AUW to be 12kg but after ading all the bits it will end up minimum 15kg.The paint alone might be 1/2kg after some 3 coats. Bit of the set back as I decided to upgrade, to double my Elevon servos to 4 and new stronger Elevon controls will be made up just for the piece of mind, Joe.

Painting is going well and at the same time making up the landing gear. My booster power units were align and formers well anchored to the frame so I can start now on the nightmare of the electronic hook up, it is going to take lot of soldering of heavy 8 gauge leads and connectors not very enjoyable job but it has to be done. I only wish there were more hours in the day, Joe.

Very nice! I've been designing something a little different myself over the last few months. Looking forward to seeing more of your progress

PS I like the idea of the different sized fan units. This should give you a unique sound.

Great news, first day after Easter received the extra two servos needed to hook up my completed Elevon controls. Nearly 18kg torque on each control gives me now piece of mind. Joe.
