My Hadron flew into the ground on a hand launce and I can't find the prop/collet that went on the motor shaft.
I see Tower Hobbies have collets (Great Plains) but I have no idea what size I need or any place else to order one.

New Launch Method

Found a new launch method that has worked flawlessly.

There is no need to "throw" the plane at all. All I do now is go full throttle and then holding the plane at a slight nose high angle I just sort of toss it up sort of like I would toss a ball into a target like a trash can. It doesn't even have to be hard. Just sorta hold it by the hand grips underneath, go full throttle, and toss it like you would a ball overhand.

The plane will launch smoothly into a powered glide and build speed as it climbs...piece of cake.

Sorry to hear mate!

I have not flown mine yet, waiting for my afromini fc board.

Is it possible to launch no power and then hit it?

this thing is on the heavyside....so you need some good air under it to make sure it stays in the air. a bungee or catapult launcher would probably work

I've had a hard time coordinating that when flying by myself, but when flying with my buddy, it's the only way I'll do it. I wait until the plane has left his hand, and then hit full throttle.
I may take a chance with my fingers, but I won't with anyone else's.

It is a fun airplane to FPV. With a very light set up it is a easy plane to hand launch. I removed the rudder servo and thrust servo, put in a gps antenna and flight control board (afro mini naze32, 1.7 grams), RMRC micro cam, 2200mah 3 cell, and it is very light. It can actually fly fairly slow set like this.

At some point during development I was requested to test the 4S setup on the 3S prop (the 6 x 5). I thought it was a ridiculous, but I obliged. I also tested some larger props. The results (not so ridiculous) are in my spreadsheet attached.

Looks like one could get away with larger props, but this is unofficial results. If you call Product Support with a fried motor or ESC because you ran it on a larger prop, well, good luck with that.

I don't feel the recommended props are undersized at all. The Hadron has plenty of thrust to launch easily on either setup (it does launch slightly better with the larger prop on 3S though). We found the best balance between thrust (diameter) and speed (pitch) with the chosen props. Other props we experimented with were all within the same general range within +/- .5" in pitch or diameter. If one wanted to experiment with larger diameter props for more thrust, then lower the pitch accordingly (to maintain similar load/current) have at it!

This is now my favorite FPV plane. Getting 8 or so minutes out of a 2200 40c battery, going easy on the battery, mostly just doing low passes across the club. Leaps out of my hand for launch. Smooth flier.
