Trex 450 clones.

One question. Is the dynam Carbon E-Razor a Trex 450 clone?

I need to know a list of cheap Trex 450 FLYBARRED clones that I could buy for under 150.00 total. I need a ESC, a tail servo, LiPo and a gyro. But If I get the dynam ill just pull out the stock radio and use my DX7s and 6ch orangerx or my AR6010e

These are parts I have already.

Solar servo D650 (I have 4, but I need a different servo on the tail, right?)

Exceed RC Alpha 400 Outrunner 3500KV

Sorry if I sound like a noob, I'm just a little confused with helis. I have a blade mSR and fly a friends SR every weekend. I also fly a ton of fiexed wing planes, so I do know RC

Please take no offence but I'm new here also. You started a thread, which no one knows about, with a question hoping that someone like me might doing a search might find? You must not be looking for a quick answer. Before I leave and find the answer I'm looking for I'll share my vast knowledge, several days old now, of the 450 size heli.

Good luck under 150. I'd start on e-bay. You will find no name kits under 80 or 90, without blades or canapy. I've heard that some kits come through with a bad part and the guys always seem to have an Align substitute hanging around. Last couple had a warped head. Another has out of round tail gears. Three good clone names that keep popping up are: Tarot, HK and ALZRC but you never know what you will get. One thing for sure is you do get what you pay for. Right now shipping from Hong Kong is fast than China.

I haven't shopped for a tail gyro because I'll be going with the uBeast FBL for my first build. I'm moving up from a completely modified V400D02 to a ALZ Devil 480 fast. It's in the mail. Yes you will require a fast tail servo. I read that Align recommends a 0.05 sec speed. I think that is for 60 degrees of movement but don't quote me. The Hytec 5084 has .07 at 4.5 volts and .05 at 6 volts and many use it. The Walk-er and Beyond thread might be of interest to you. These guys are moving like the name states. Some have grown out of Walk. but there is alot of knowledge there:

Many Blade fans there also.

If I find an experianced Clone 450 only site I'll return with the link. Good luck, Bob

My brother had a couple clones
Personally I found the Copter x version to be the best flyer of the clones
The align parts fit right on it.
I wasn't a good pilot but I did do successful flights with it

Nothing compares to a real t-Rex though.

He also had an all plastic trex, another one of my favorites

I think the copter x 450 kit,dx6i,good servos and gyro,add a align head.......you got urself a damn good heli.

I have an E-Razor 450se and have really liked it..I wouldn't buy it again if i needed too..It is not anything like an Align T-rex or anything like a clone.I would go with an EXI or a Hausler if I could do it again.

nforbesrcm you're right about needing a different tail servo. That's because tail servo needs to be faster, to be able to follow the gyro. At 4.8v, I'd say your servo speed needs to be .10 sec or faster, depending on how aggressively you fly.

Cyclic (the 3 attached to swashplate) only need to be .12 to .14 sec, unless you're doing flybarless. In that case, they are following gyro also.

Oh, and I like CopterX also. All clones are not created equal.

No problems being a noob, everyone is sometime!

Looking at HK for starters, you could get the 450 Pro Belt Belt drive tails stand up much better to tail strikes. You could go for the 450 V2 which gives you more room to fit electronics between the frames, but I like the simplicity and toughness of the Pro, and I'm happy to have my ESC and RX on the outside of the heli.

For a tail servo, you need look no further than the 15158A which is a Futaba 9257 clone, works really well on a 450 tail, is dirt cheap and stocked in the US warehouse.

There's quite a good choice of ESC's. the 40A Blue Series is good, and cheap, can do up to 6s, has a decent switching BEC capable of running all digital servos, but not much of a governor mode.

The AE-45A has all of those features, a better governor mode and a great soft start.

The YEP 45A is a Rolls Royce of an ESC at a fantastic bargain price, and has all of the features mentioned previously along with a great governor mode. you need to get the program card to go with it.

Since I'm a real gadget freak, my own personal favourite has to the the Turnigy Superbrain 45A. It costs quite a bit more, but adds data logging - you can upload flight data logs to your pc using the USB Linker and see your motor rpm, current draw, battery voltage and ESC temperature. Great for tweaking your setups or just getting to know how things work.

For the gyro, I suggest the Assan GA-250 again, an incredible value.

That leaves the LiPo. I'd try to get that from the US, since shipping takes ages from overseas. Try not to get anything less than 25c. I quite like the Nano Tech 2200 3s 35-70c. I don't go for the hype about lower voltage sag and all the rest - the main advantage for me is that you can fast charge them at up to 5c.

There are plenty of Zippy's and Rhinos, and you might consider Gens Ace from other sources if you can find them, but don't get less than 25c, and get 35c or more if possible.

I haven't added all of that up, but it should be well under $150, especially if you can get the heli kit and other parts from the US warehouse rather than the international one.

Good luck, and have fun!

Hey 2Doggs, nice reply, very informative. I don't want to get too off topic here, but I have been beating the crap out of a Hausler clone for 8 months or so, spending a fortune on parts and upgrades, but it is all worth it as I am totally hooked. I am moving to a trex 450 pro fbl, I have everything I need coming except the gyro. I saw you were involved in a lot of the discussions about various gyros, and wanted to get your opinion on which one? (robird, zyx, hb800, alzrc). There is a robird dealer here in San Diego, so the customer service would be really good. A lot of the discussion and tuning details were over my head. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The ZYX is pretty good, and you can get the ZYX-s that supports a satellite RX, eliminating the main RX in a 450. You need to use a pc or program box to program it, but the pc software is dead easy to use.

The Robird costs more, but adds a vibration log feature, which could be very useful for many people.

The VCTRC is a BeastX clone, costing a little more than the ZYX-s, and some experienced people on this forum believe it flies just about as well as a BeastX V1.

There is the new CX 3x2000, for around $50 - but it's an unknown quantity at this point, and CX have never updated the firmware for the CX 3x1000, which is to all intents and purposes the same as the ZYX, though costing only $30.

All of the above gyros are reckoned to fly better than the 3GX.

Have fun with your 450 Pro FBL!

Wow! Thanks. I'll probably go for this setup.... Seems to be decent... Thanks!

I have an HK450 pro, and still have everything stock except the head for FBL and a kevlar belt for longevity. It's a very good airframe to start with.

I would use Hitec HS-5065 or Align DS410m on my new builds.

looking at the specs & prices of those 2 servos makes me tempted to try using the new walkera master cp servos. Though one would have to fixate them somehow to the frame.

wk-7.6-9 metal gear servo
Specification:
angle:90°-110°
torsion:2.86~3.0kgf.cm
speed:77-80ms/60″
no-load electricity:≦300mAh
load electricity:≦500mAh

Cost, 10-17 usd each.
