Hi Leo, please do not forget to design the flood channel from the start and try to use glass tissue this time, it will be a lot lighter and nicer...

Yes, this time use all 3D CAD, flood chamber/channel section is easy.

I have no definite choice of fiber.

A well trimmed boat can turn at full speed, so the weight is not so important. Too light a boat easily blow off water, cause of unpredictable result, lost control.

I'd rather add useful weight if required, like bigger batteries, you're already starting with a disadvantage with a heavy hull, it takes power to move the extra weight.
A properly trimmed light boat will not blow off the water " too easily" or cause bad handling thats a bad design or bad setup.
Personally I think you just sunk yourself as a boat designer with that last statement!
I've been running and racing boats for over 25 years and every time a well set up light boat kicks the ass of a battle tank.

^^ That's for weights within a certain range and in perfect conditions. In race water a bigger/heavier hull will handle way better than a smaller/lighter one.

Just try running a nice light 29" P mono against heavier 33" boat running 2P batteries and see who comes out after a 5 or 6 lap race.

The only time you really need to watch weight is for restricted power systems.

Hello fellow members,

Thanks for posting. Members might not aware that a thread on a new product can have this kind of hot discussion. If you start a new thread on GENERAL RC BOATING forum on length to weight ratio, weight trimming. It would become a hot discussion topics. I actually not ever read this kind of topics and think that this kind of topics would be very helpful to many boat modelers. Moreover, more members read your posting.

best regards,

Leo

Hello CornelP,

I think the flood chamber volume should be as large as possible but also easy to make. So I am thinking that the section wall should be inclined at some angle from vertical. The angle should be small, 30 degree at most, so that it will not interfere the motor installation.

best regards,

Leo
