YEP ESC won't brake?

hi folks,

First the powertrain:
YEP 150A
PolyTec 600-33 6.1:1 motor
16x16 rfm

I maidened my Hawk today and I have an issue with the brake. No matter which setting I choose while programming (brake off/acro/acro hard/smooth/middle/hard) the brake doesn't actually kick in so my prop was spinning the whole time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=yLhmP6cdqQc

not sure if you can see it on this video but it is (and yeah that's me *wave*)

Any ideas what might be the case here?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Damir.

My two choices would be:

1. You aren't programming it correctly.
2. It's faulty. I have two at home that are faulty, one won't brake (but also will hardly start) and the other appears to lose sync at about 2000rpm.

Are you using stick or card to program it?

YEP brake

Hi

Try setting the throttle channel all the way to minus 140% on travel adjustment.

It works on my YEP 150 ESC, i use a Aurora 9 transmitter.

Best regards
Simon

Basic-Setup:
The basic setup goes relatively quick. You should read this Manual thoroughly before running it.
Otherwise one may not be able to keep up with the pace!

1. Verify that the ESC is off, and then switch on the transmitter with the throttle stick at full
power(make sure the full power position with fine trimming).

2. Hold the Model, Connect the ESC with motor and battery pack => a monotonous continuous
beep should be heard.
♪♪♪♪♪♪…: Multiprogramming is activated!

3. Move the stick to the desired neutral position; if the Brake is not needed, the throttle stick is on the “full back” position. If the Brake is needed, lower the stick to one fifth away from the lowest point (not fully back), you will hear two beeps
(these high pitch and low pitch)to make surethe position of throttle stick. Then the throttle process was saved.

4. Now, do not move the throttle stick and hear the sounds
, it comes the setup of the Soft start to wait for the acknowledgement of the sounds

Bonito,
I owe you are Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout!

When I read your post about simply extending the travel adjustment I thought it couldn't be that easy to fix the brake issue that had cursed the early versions of the Sunrise made speedies. I had bought some HiModel ICE 100's and a 150 last year but found the lack of effective brake made these esc useless for folder applications so they had sat around or sold off. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1522989

I know Sunrise revised the firmware late last year to correct this problem and have been using a recently made YEP150 successfully on 5 cells and a geared 16/35/1.

So today, with nothing to lose I was pleasantly surprised find your trick made the brake work on my old Himodel ICE 100. Thank you!

The Asians and the Chinese in particular seem to have no shame when it comes to "borrowing" branding from successful western manufactures. I guess this means that Castle is a industry leader in the hobby controller world...like Apple is in smart phones

I am sorry Steve Neu if i am offending you or others by helping.

I do own both CC 100 Lite and the CC 200 Lite, these are the most expensive ESC i own and they work well...

Most electronics are made in china these days and the big brand names are often made in china.

Some is making a lot of money some where....

Again i am sorry if my helping others i offending others.

Best regards
Simon

I don't object to the Chinese making low cost controllers or to people buying them--only to the business practices that are used to promote them by using their name brands or by blatant copying of their designs and firmware.

They should stand on their own merits.....

Count me in too!

BBQ at your place plus seeing the northern lights, the Fram and Gjoa, what other excuses do I need to visit Norway?
