DLG Battle at the Mason-Dixon line
Ok, had an idea presented to me by Eric Lanning and I think it sounds pretty cool so I thought I would toss it out there. So its no question the 2 baddest DLG groups in the US currently are the DESS (south) and NOVA/MD (north) group
. Now we just need to figure out if The South will rise again or if The Union still gets to writes history. So, the idea was to have a monthly or quaterly contest series between the two groups and at the end of the year most points wins the war, per se. And where will the battles be fought? Right here in ye Oldde Dominion, next to the Mason-Dixon line. My local club field in Petersburg is literally dead middle between the two groups, seems like a fair meeting place to exchange musket fire to me, and they've been quite open to the idea of seeing how a competition works. Those poor power guys, all they're used to is fly-ins and BBQ's, no hand-to-hand combat in the sky... So there's the idea. Any interest or suggestions?

Awesome. We do an RC combat session twice annually in Utah we affectionately call the Uncivil War. We claim it is North vs South, but in reality its just a reason to get together and fly combat. Those who fly DLG usually peel off to another area of the field after the main festivities are over.
Smack talk usually refers to redneck humor and those among us with a "history" of crashing. It makes for a good time.
As you mentioned, it might be wise avoid "combat" with DLGs. That would be pricey! |
