It flew fine, off into the steep climb of that leap, but I never flew it off grass again! A football oval is typically 150m long.
So 4.0Kg off grass is going to have an even harder time. Even though it looks fast enough, it probably isn't.
But amazingly 4.2kg can LAND way slower than that speed! Or can be landed way slower - not a typical landing, but if you want to do it very slow.
because you can capitalize on the lift and braking from the increased AoA with zero ground friction.
But if you're 4.2 kg it's a similar concern we have with the F-16 and big batteries in 8-12S. The basic model starts at 2000W but most in that weight are pushing 2800-2900W out of a single 90mm which is less thrust area than these twins, but is needed to get out of the grass, thrust around 4.1 kg.
That said the wing area is bigger on the F-16 is bigger. Not by much but bigger with a taller stance and a positive static wing profile. So if we're finding it challenging for some off pavement let alone grass it'll be even harder with the 35 that definitely has the TV in its favour.

Add more pitch throw just short of being fully stalled and see if that can't get you your ROG force that you're looking for....

He's likely already thought about many of our comments before we're about to make them but for some reason I don't think there's anyone else in this forum who has had such repeated difficulty flying from where ever he does off grass. Same as his first model.

Wet grass or grass species cause this model doesn't have that much difficulty breaking free of grass....
He needs to reverse his y-axis.....

It's like the guy that has to play a first shooter with standard sticks (not inverted), then you grab the controller and everything is back asswards.

re Pete's maidens - sounds like it should have taken off ok with flaperons, just something wasn't right with pitch settings and/or inputs once it got off the ground.. (like elevator position, tv nozzle position & elev comp for flaperons)

did you have a little bit of up elevator compensation for the the flaperons set? (just a touch)

if you have that footage from you fpv camera it might tell us something.. did it record sound too? (I was thinking we could hear throttle inputs at that moment, plus front view)

mines only a bit over 3kg, but with flaperons it gets up from thickish grass in less than 10m

btw Physics seems to work fine for me down here in Australia.. or maybe my thumbs and muscle memory have just adjusted to asswardness

good stuff Jandro! looking forward to the footage.. I'd love to see your heli flights too - heli 3d has become my most favourite sort of flying.. I just set up my goblin 500 stretched to 525, with a crazy KDE motor.. sharing 5000 6s packs with my su-35.. it's an absolute beast (though a pack - killer!)

What a deal! Thanks for the Taranis gear. Keep the Euro light. Don't be afraid to slow down that delta wing (of course with power at aoa). You will be surprised how slow it can fly.

Hi, do you know the discription from JePe about blade count? Maybe it could help you to find a sweet combo:

wish either he or Jetfan would make this fan in a 70C 72mm version. It looks like a JetFan with a little more pitch to the fans root.

ITTD; show us all your Euro mods over in the Euro thread.

I would go with the lowest blade count with highest thrust in your search. Just go with a light plastic shroud setup, then it will be very forgiving.

It had flown with a metal shroud stock FW outrunner and the upgraded FW inrunner. Both were heavy and would dropped like a brick if you are paying attention when flying slow aoa.
