Build Log
B-1 Bomber

Okay, so this is my first build log on RCG. The project I have started is one that I have been wanting to start for a few months now but haven't had time. I have decided to build a B-1 out of foam that will be powered by 4 30mm Hyperflow EDF units. I decided to go with the 4 30mm EDF's instead of 2 larger ones because I am trying to keep the build as scale as I can and aside from that I think the concept would be cool! I will try and make progress on this and provide updates as time allows!

The plans I am using to base the build on are scaled down from Flexserve's plans that can be found here...

Thinking of naming her "Baby Bone" dunno if that name is already taken somewhere.

Primate,

Build on!!! I had my eye on this build too. Was looking at using 22mm or 25mm EDFs. Looks like you're off to a good start. I'm interest in how you'll be doing the electronics. Haven't done a multi-engine before. I'll definitely be watching!

Thx ksqm. I'm still working out the electronics side of things but I will have a little time to sort it out while the airframe comes together. I wanna get most of the airframe done so I can get a better "real life" look at how things are going to fit together.

Fixed wings? If so, what position are you planning to use?

If they are going to end up being fixed then they will be in the swept backward position but I will attempt to have working swept wings.

The forward bay is for the battery on the larger scale version and judging from the amount of EDFs he wants (4) he's going to have to counter that weight for correct CG. Going to be interesting...

Yeah that's going to be part of the dilemma for sure Flexserve. I have been mulling over the grand scheme of how things are going to work with CG and swept wings and such so right now having a bomb bay would be most certainly a luxury lol

Flexserve,

How far did the CG shift on your B-1 and in which direction? Might as well take a look at the issue now. Hope to do a micro build myself.

I only have a larger scale. The funny thing about this plane is it goes from delta wing to a flying wing. That alone changes the CG dramatically; this of course is NOT counting the additional lift from the underside of the fuse with wings swept back. Having a moving carriage that shifts the CG as the wings sweep is definitely being researched.

Wow! This will be cool to see how it scales down. I keep wanting to do one with twin 70mm fans but really need to see how you and Flex work out the kinks. It will be interesting to see how each end of the size spectrum works out, ex: will they have the same characteristics or will there be differences due to size, wing sweep or not, landing gear or not, etc.

Looking forward to seeing both succeed.
