Hi mike, I was running t180, skylipos 2 5000 in series, leopard 2200 kv.
I hit a stupid buoy head on earlier and it did some damage I tried to fix it whit some ca but I guess water found its way in and hit the esc, that's my best guess.

Come on in RikyRik the water is fine. The Yacht racing rules are far to complex to just explain them all but I have thought for some time they could be simplified and condensed…so the following are my super condensed, leave out all the BS version of the rules. In no way to be considered complete but get these down and you will have the basics.
Starboard has right of way over port—this rule takes care of 90% of circumstances. Tack (and windward/leeward) is defined by which side the boom is on. If the main sail boom is on the port side you are on starboard tack and have right of way over port tack boats. If you were on the boat with your back to the wind and would be looking over your right shoulder you have right of way. If the boom is on the right side you are on port tack and must avoid ALL starboard tack boats.
When in doubt, keep clear of other boats (you are never in the right if there is a major collision!)
4 Basic rules
1. A boat on starboard tack has right of way over a port tack boat
2. A boat to leeward (the down wind boat) has right of way over a windward boat on the same tack (both boats have the boom on the same side.
3. When rounding a windward mark, an inside boat on the same tack must be given room (port-starboard still applies).
4. When rounding a leeward mark, an inside boat must always be given room
That’s it. Get those four down pat and you can race with the best of them.
I was also asked, what do I do if I break a rule?
a. If you break a right-of-way rule, you must do two turns (720) promptly after the incident. That’s the rule but RC do a single turn.
b. If you touch a mark, you must do one turn promptly (Our club as waved this at the weather mark)
c. If there was serious damage, you must retire
d. You must keep clear of other boats when doing your penalty turns

Now six more to muddy the water a bit and answer a couple other questions that were asked.
5. A boat which is tacking (head to wind with the sails flapping) must keep clear of one that is not
6. A boat clear astern must keep clear of boat ahead. I trip on this one occasionally, you must keep in mind starboard always has right of way first THEN overtaking boat on the same tack must give way.
7. When a right-of-way boat changes course, she must give other boats room to keep clear. Right of way is the right to hold your course. When you are turning you must avoid other boats but you can turn up in front of them (because you are leeward boat) if you give them time to turn away. If someone is doing a penalty turn they have no rights so you can hold your course and sail through the circle they are making but you must not “turn” into them.
8. A right-of-way boat must give a keep-clear boat room to keep clear. This is when going straight. For example if a port tack boat is stalled or having problems go around them because the first rules is you must always avoid a collision.
9. A starboard tack boat must not change course if as a result the port tack boat must immediately change course to keep clear. (i.e. no hunting).
10. If you are approaching shore or an obstruction the leeward boat (right of way boat) has the right to ask for room at the obstruction. If this requires a tack away you can ask the other boat to tack away but you must immediately follow.
