Looks a lot like Matthias's G-train actually ( the full size movie cat). Fantastic job on the model, just not really to scale, hull-wise. And the mast comes up from inside the lower mast, not raised up like a lug rig. I think the spreader tree is a bit different, too. Wish I could spend the time to build something like that.

as far as I know the boat was the former "Groupe Pierre Premier" skippered by the French women Florence Arthaux and it was an Orma 60. Even if it is proven not to be that boat it is not a 40 footer - gotta be a 60 footer.

Now they may have used 2 boats with one being a 40 footer in some sections of the film but when the actors are on it it looks more like a 60 footer.

just my knowledge on that mater.

Yes you're wrong, Waterworld tris were molded certainly in same tools as Primagaz and Pierre1er, but they are sisterships, not the same.

Check my links above.

Hey Roxona - brilliant album and great picture of fantastic rc trimaran. I was blown away by the details on the models - I'd love to see them sails. I know there are pictures of boat on the water but how do they sail ? I have an old Cobra Mini40 which was inspired by these trimarans and apart from being too heavy (one of the first one) they have a nasty habit of nose diving and tripping over their lourd float to capsize in a gust when reaching particularly.

I'm restoring it at the moment - just finished making a new cf rig of 2.15m. Sails are from NZL and winch from AUS. working on a new T-shaped rudder and replacing the electrics and sheeting system.

here is the album

Enjoy

btw are these boats still sailing ?
