Are we talking RFU or NANO here????

the Nano.

- Nano has one antenna. The wires are two sides of the same antenna and they need to stay straight.
- RFU has two antenna with diversity switching, and ideally should sit 90 degrees to each other.

Correct... I was referring to the Nano, which has a single antenna made up of the circuit board, coils, and two wires. The RFU has two completely separate antennas.

so you should just leave the sticking out straight in the wind or should they be supported?

If they are in the wind for some reason, you need the wires supported.

Here is how I have made glass canopies for a Supra and a Pulsar and installed the RFU inside them. The aerials are inside some old sullivan tube and the wires are held in place with some gorilla duck tape. So far this has worked fine.

Yep, for a severe carbon installation that looks good.

I use both the sailplane and nano receivers in my sailplane and dread having to do anything to the nano receivers because it is so difficult to remove and reinstall the nano. I mold my own fuselages and the nose cone requires that the nano be installed so far back in the fuselage to allow the antenna to exit aft of the nosecone. The fuselage was designed around the Hitec superslim receiver and the sailplane receiver slips right in with the sailplane receiver antenna sliding in the old antenna tube. The best solution would be to redesign the fuselage. Fortunately the nano is so reliable that I don't have to remove the receiver very often since I installed a servo extension cable for the bind plug.

Don't sweat it.....

The grommets are between the X10 board and the "stand-offs'

Be aware that this was a XPS conversion from 72.xxx, if started as a new install things would be different.
