Hey, I never even knew these existed. I'm gonna watch this thread as a matter of interest. Is metal fatigue not a factor, especially with aluminum?

No...it's just that the stock ECO 8 tail pulleys are not drilled in the center, so they tend to wobble as they rotate, which causes vibration.

A lot of people replace them with the Voyager E tail pulleys as mentioned in the EHBG.

I was asembling mine last night and the hex in the set screw stripped out before the set screw got into the shaft. Now it wont go it or come out. So after examining the pulleys closer I decided aluminum ones were a must have upgrade. I have located a set of pulleys from a fellow rcgroups user. He was nice enough to sell me a spare set he had.

I'm pretty sure he has these in stock (precision model products) I did have a problem ordering parts from them, I ordered parts via paypal through his site and he had been having problems with his computer, I called him and he found my order and shipped the parts. it's best to order by phone if possible, the man there was very sorry about the incident and happy to 3-day the parts to me (alum swash and 13T pinion) just do me a favor and save me a set of alum tail pulleys, I haven't got a chance to buy any yet. heres the number 508-747-4556. hope this helps you guys.

No many toothed timming belt pulleys for industrial aplications are made of aluminum. I dont see any problems at all with aluminum pulleys in this application.

PrecisionModelProducts.com is building the alu pulleys really. You can order directly from them.

Another option is to use the REAR puley from the Voyager VE part number Part number 960650. These puleys are a perfect drop in replacement.

If you strip the setscrew hole on the ECO 8 pulley, put can put some thick CA on the tip of a tiny screwdriver and spread it around the hole, and wait for it to dry.

This will decrease the hole diameter a little so the setscrew will work again.

I purchased a pair from FXA which arrived last week and I've found that there is a slight wobble that can be seen visually. The shaft is true. I'm concerned that this is going to cause unwanted vibrations or standing waves in the belt which may slap against the side wall of the boom.

I can't get rid of this extremely annoying vibration. Its HAS to be the blade grips (which are in perfect condition!). Does anyone know if there is an alu tail rotor assembly for a 3mm tail rotor shaft? There may be a possibility of using just some alu tail-grips from another heli that fit on the ECO. I see the Sweet-16 has alu grips... wonder if they'll work?
