I have used AXI's for years (Great motor) but don't over look the Rimfire 65 motor. A 12S setup on a four blade zinger works well and produces very good power for less cost. These motors I have found to be extremely reliable. A Rimfire 50 ran the entire show season last year in a 90" Extremeflight Extra subjected to the top 3D pilots running the beans out of it with out one issue.

I also have had excellent service from these motors. I will run a 65 in my next 1/5 warbird airframe.

Ron/Others,

What motor mount are you using? Do you just cut the tubes down to the length you need or ?? Are the tubes threaded so the bolts go all the way through?

That is the esprit models mount... because of the lack of space I used the standard plates with the heavy duty standoff tubes. They are threaded on each end and solid. So you order to length and buy small spacers to get the length you need. I really like there mounts and will use the same on my coming Hanger P-47 giant scale project

Took my Mustang out to a local airport for a few pics today. Dropped a 4S pack in it so I could turn the static prop. Wouldn't it be cool if we could actually fly it with a scale prop!?!

The ESC is a CC ICE 160 HV 2

That is already mounted and wired up... I just need to make a short extension with a harness and a anti spark connector and then program it up.

She will be ready to roll after that... can't wait. It flew so well and looked cool

Spring is going to be fun!!

I am curious what kind of battery connectors are you guys using with a high power setup like this. I am getting ready to place an order for some 6S 5000 batteries and I see most have 10 guage wire. I am guessing you are not using Deans but I was looking at trying some Voltz and they come with Deans.

Also thinking about trying Haiyin. What do you think?

I've been using EC-5 connectors. I used to use bullets but the EC-5's eliminate any confusion when plugging in packs.

Yep I went EC5's this year after having to many issues with bullets.... like burning the hell out of my finger when shorted a 12s setup

I really like the EC5's so far and have tested them at 130 amps....they felt cool

Hi Ron, I'm just about to start covering my wings. Did you do each top/bottom section with one piece of film? I can't see any join marks in the pics. My roll of film is large enough to cover a top or bottom panel in one go, I just think there's gonna be a lit of waste if I do it that way. I'd need 4 rolls just to do the wings lol.

Yep one piece on each half

I cut it to shape before I peel off the backing... that way you can use the left over pieces for control surfaces and small parts

post some pictures when you get a chance... mine is all ready to go. Just need to get out a fly a couple weekends then I'll take her back out

Thanks Ron. I started with the ailerons and flaps, just to ease myself into it. Should have fine the big stuff first! Will post some pics when I do a wing panel. Looks like I'll need some more film!! Did you do the same with the fuse?
