nice to build.. until the first crash.. that's why we, fpv-ers, don't like balsa planes the crash is inevitable.

Looking at picking up this kit, probably from Banggood unfortunately as HK is completely out.

The plan is to put a DLE20CC gas engine on it, with one main fuel tank and an external tank(s) for increased flight times. Goal is a fuel-powered, long range (through duration, not speed) FPV platform. I've got some ideas for CAD about a gimbal either upfront or underneath...

Thanks RC Geeks for the build videos; I've watched all of them which has convinced me to buy this kit. Two questions for anyone who has flown one or is building one:

1) What is the maximum-sized prop that can be run? One of the geek's videos measured the vertical space to the ground, but what is the distance between the booms?

2) From a general flight characteristic standpoint, is this a floater or a speed plane? I'd like to do some cruising at just above idle to fly forever, and the ability to set it down in a smaller space is nice.

I guess I have a third question: On the maiden of the geek's plane (congrats by the way!!) was the odd stall at the end typical or the result of an off-placement CG?

Thanks for the help guys, fly hard and fly safe!!

I was thinking about getting one of these but after seeing the final product on the RC geeks video It didn't really do anything for me , I much prefer my UAV 3000 ,the wheels and landing gear looked not to scale , however I did enjoy watching the videos and the maiden was great especially with the motor burn out with an awesome save ! Not sure I would have been so cool calm and collected to bring it down in one piece .

Definitely, that stall at the end was pretty amazing to watch.

I'm mainly looking for a larger balsa fixed-wing platform that I can put a gas engine on and load up with fuel tanks. It is appealing to be a kit so I can make some modifications to it, I'm possibly thinking of extending the wings.

I'll document it here when/if it happens
