Can anyone tell me what a servo reversing cable is used for?

The hint is in the name...it's used to reverse the direction the servo turns in.

These days since it's so easy to reverse servos in the TX they're only really useful when you have two servos on a Y-lead driving ailerons or elevator and you can't easily move the servo to get it turning correctly. Never needed one myself.

I installed a eflite safe receiver in a pulse 15e and it will turn inverted by itself when I put it in beginner mode. Trying to find out what is causing it.

Exactly - I needed one for the elevator on my F/A-18E because they are both on a y-harness. Since I couldn't mount it backwards, I had to buy a reversing cable.

I installed a reversing cable but the ailerons will move in the same direction

You don't use then for ailerons, but for flaps or elevators where the servos are installed in a mirrored arrangement. Ailerons operate correctly without a reversing lead.

Guys, he has put a 'Safe' RX in a plane that it is not programmed for.
The AS3X system in the Safe RX's cannot be programmed. And because it (the RX) was designed for a different plane, on some planes you have to reverse some of the control surfaces. The easiest way to do this for some, is a servo reverser. Others can physically swap the servos around or even the servo arms.
It is all plane dependant. Each plane is different, unfortunately.
So, he was infact not given the wrong advice.

carteraveri, you are just going to confuse yourself with this thread and asking questions in the Safe thread aswell. Best off closing this one and listening to the guys in the other thread. As they are the ones that know what you need to do!!
