Antenna question

I'm more curious than anything. If my receiver has two antenna, one long and one short, does the actual antenna on the long wire start at the receiver, or is it after the rubber piece?

Knowing this make it easier to loop around to be perpendicular.

OK, assuming 2.4GHz here; the receiver antenna length for a typical system is ~31mm, so, the last 31mm would be the active portion, and is often covered with clear insulation.
