Your close Curtis. It was six rounds with one throw out, so five scored. Thom was tough.
It was such a beautiful day, several of us stuck around and flew a mini contest till it got too dark to fly.
Kevin, it may be the first contest of the year, but we fly every month so no rusty thumbs.

Mark, so what are your thoughts on the throw out with such few rounds?
Well I guess you like it if it helped and don't if it hurt.
I answered my own question.

We throw one out every five rounds. We normally try to get 8 in. Number of rounds flown depends on a lot of things with our group. The diehards obviously will fly till its dark, some have "more important" things to do. The more serious tend to bend things to match the wishes of the group, in order to keep as many as possible involved.

I feel slightly better to know there was a drop, and that even the winner didn't have all 50 point landings...

I haven't flown in a RC sailplane contest since 1972, maybe it's time again.

Anyone up for a few informal rounds of F5J on June 12th or 15th before or after the meet at Carnation, assuming there is a field that could be used? I can bring a laptop with a scoring system.

Kevin, that sounds like fun to me.

I will try to contact the TD for the SASS ALES event to see if its possible to use the field for that purpose. They are scheduled to start at 9AM, so Im guessing it would have to be after the main contest rounds are done. I have no idea how many rounds they intend to fly. I doubt we could get in the day before or after the contest as its a working farm and I believe that they have to schedule petty far in advance.

As an alternative, Id love to meet up with you at my home field in Gig Harbor the day before or after the contest to fly a few rounds of F5J.

Anyone else?

Larry
