Been nursing a hangover this morning - work dinner in town last night.

VJ's still waiting for servos to come in, then probably a couple of weeks? I'm building really slow at the moment for some reason.

How have those batts held up? The Stinger doesn't exactly have great cooling, and you've probably got more cycles on your packs than I do on mine now.

Yeah I think I will put some vents in the Stinger especially since the weather is warming up now...
Batteries are holding up alright, 1 has dropped low on a cell a couple of times but has come back pretty good... plenty of cycles now, using them in the Hawk as well... now have a 3300 35-70c from them too. It was on sale cheap, fits nice in the Hawk!

Sweet! I might have to get some more for the upcoming season.

Ok so here is the story, I got my stinger in about 2 weeks ago and have been itching to fly it. I finally decide im going to give it a try, but for some reason the motor shuts down at half throttle. A few times it would go all the way to full, but after trying for hours to fix it. It finally goes to full throttle and shorts out sending a great fire ball of sparkes out the back of the plane..

So not im without a motor to run.. I need a motor i can get fast... Does anyone know of an eflite of something i can get locally?

PS why would the motor do this in the first place? I did swap my esc to a 40a eflite, but it tested fine on other motors so what the issue the motor the whole time?

I can have a motor out to you on Monday if you cant find a local solution.

Will either of these fit the stock fan setup? Also Im currently running 3s, but may go 4s after i fly it some. This is my first edf.

The Wicked 4000 with standoff and EDO plug will be the closest I have to stock power on 3S then you can also run on 4S if you want. You will have to remove the four molded plastic splines in the EDF housing to make the motor fit but that is easy to do, see link below:

After balancing the rotor with the E-flite V480 motor (4800kv) on 3S, with the setup installed in the fuse, I got :- 368W peak at approx 10.27V 38.xxAmps.

Having trouble making sure the rotor wont move round the adapter even after much tightening. Any suggestions on how to secure it properly. Would CA help?

The website will calculate based on your zip code. It is between $3 and $ 6 depending on what service. The regular 4000 is fine. No need for the plus series especially if running on 3S. If you want more than stock power on 3S then get the 4800 KV it will be about 350-380 watts.

got the motor installed, I noticed though that the fan stick out of the shroud is that normal, its like the standoff is too long? Did i miss something?

Stock system goes pretty well though on 3s, if you use a good one with high discharge.

what is the difference between the hawk edf and the stinger? also can you explain cutting it down to three blades. Can this be done with the stock set up?

Just did my first flight today, have a wicked 4000 in it on stock fan and upgraded esc to a eflite 40a i had around. So thinking of going 4s soon.

I have the 4000 plus on 4s... Its awsome...it will hover on ur fingertip with a 2200mah 4s in the cockpit. Makes for some quick passes in the trippel digits.. Only thing is 3 minute flights
