Re: Zagi XS

My friend's son is also flying one with a Mega 3 turn, they seem a bit faster than the original Zagi, and still glide pretty good. Another friend has one and he's a beginner, don't need to worry about broken canopies like I did when I started flying these. It just mushes the nose a bit and keeps going.

Zagi Batts

He as well as myself are using CP-1300's, 1700's and 2000's. I only get about 4-5 mins on the 1300's. We're using MAS 5.5X4.5 props. This set-up is ballistic, they go straight up out of sight.

MORE ZAGI

How many cells?....8? Even the new 8 Cell 1800mAh NiM's (that comes with the XS) runs my Mega for 10-15 minutes (I do a bit of "thermal") before I coast in.

I use the 5X5 Carbon from Zagi

magoo,

Have you tried your Mega /3T with Varioprop 6". It really cooks better then the carbon prop from trick.

Shem,

What controller are you using? I did not think that the 3 turn could spin a 6 inch prop without overloading my Phoenix 25. But I will try anything once.

magoo,

I use a CC Pheonix 35 and I set the pitch to 3" on the Varioprop. Pulls about 30 amps.

I also have a /4T, and with the Varioporp set at 2.8" pitch it still cooks better then the carbons.

Happy New year.

Just came across this thread.

We just brought in a Ton of 1800 4/5A cells for the Zagi XS. These will match the KAN 1800 exactly for way less.

$22.00 for an 8 cell pack.
www.cheapbatterypacks.com
click on Plane packs. It is in the middle (hint: filter by "A" sized cells with 8 cell counts) or use the customize pack option: Select CBP-1800 4/5A, Offset Brick w/Deans 14awg wire.

Thanks !!

Magoo,

3S2P Etec for /4T and 3S4P for /3T. For weight savings, I am considering Irate 2600's. But the cost is somewhat steep.

frederm,

I am considering some alternate packs for my XS. Maybe the HR1950FAUP will work for my /3T setup.

Shem,

I have never heard of the Irate 2600. Where can I learn about these batteries? My 3T Mega smokes on the 3S2P Thunder Power I cannot imagine the 4P! 8400 mAh??? @ 11.1 volts....WOW!

That 1950 AUP Nickel Metal from Cheap Battery Packs (Mike will give you great service!) is also a great pack!

The real bargan here is Cheap Batter Packs is selling the stock battery 4/5A 1800 mAh NiMs for $22.00!!! That beats the crap of paying $160.00 for the Thunder Power 3S2P although the performance ofr the LiPo is ummatched!!

Am I reading you to say that this will work with a Mega system? How would they compare with the 1700AUP's?

777,

I have not used the 1800 4/5A's before but I guess it will work. I have checked the amp draw of a standard 400 motor from trick with the standard KR1700AU pack and it draws 13-14 amps if my memory serves correctly.

This is what I have checked before

KR1700AU + Speed 400 = 13-14 amps
KR1700AU + Mega 5T = 14 amps (if memory serves)
KR1700AU + Astroflight 020 = 18 amps

Astro 020

I am flying the Astro 020 on all of my Zagi planes and have been having a blast with the 020 on the XS. All of my XS customers have been having great things to say about this new plane and the Astro is just putting smiles on everyones face.
