Q500 Viper Tail Mod reinforcement

This is 2 oz fiberglass. With Z-Poxy Finishing Resin.

Is that all it takes to prevent the tail section from breaking?

I thought that it could break at the leading edge section and the trailing edge sections.

Also what if I wanted to put a monocote type covering back on it to make it look better. I understand the monocote doesn't adhere well to the fiberglass.

Is it really that strong?

How much weight does it add, and how does it affect the balance/center of gravity?

You must live in Florida without a shirt on and you never introduced your helper and showed us a shot of her/him.

Hahaha. I like to glass that whole tail area as it real weak and we both seen them snap in half at the a Races and that's the last place you want your tail breaking. Answering your questions in order asked.
I forgot to mention in the video that after you sand it down brush some balsa-rite on it and the monocote will stick fine.
Yes, it's strong
No affect on weight. Maybe 12 grams and no affect on CG

Hey guys, I am new to the q500 racing, I have been practicing with my os 55ax powered Kaos, and am currently assembling my first Viper 500. I have two questions: Is this fiberglass mod absolutely necessary, and is a Webra .40 a good choice to power this plane or would an os 40fp be better? Thanks.

It's not necessary but when you have a less than a good landing and your tail snaps in half, you will do this Mod to every other Viper. It makes the tail stronger so it won't happen. It's a common thing and I'm not the only one that does it.

Either one of those engines are fine. This Plane is designed to fly anything from a .25 to a .40 Jett which is twice the power of a OS 55ax.

But. If you want to compete in organized Racing. The Thunder Tiger Pro 40 is the exclusive motor that you have to run for 424 Class or the sport Jett 40 for 426.
