3 cell lipo-dm9

Is it safe to use a Spektrum DM9 2.4 GHz module with a 3 cell 11.1v lipo battery ?

I have been using a 3cell LiPo Tx battery in both of my JR XP9303's for the past 5 years, with a Spektrum DM9 RF Module. No issues. I do not believe the DM9 is at any risk.

If you are concerned about the higher voltage (12.6v), you can just charge to a lower voltage or install several Radio Shack Diodes in the Tx battery circuit to drop the voltage. There are references to the part numbers for these Diodes in various RCU threads. Either way you can lessen the chances of any supposed issues with the higher voltage.

Why not just go with LiFe and avoid the voltage issue? It's also safer and more resilient if you allow it to fully discharge. And it's cheap ($7-10 and up):

I agree. I have done this with my Rx batteries. Newer Tx's come with LiPo or LiFe options.
